“No whale-shark”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We hoped to see the whale-shark, but noticed too late (after we entered) that it was temporarily elsewhere for medical exams. The sign at the ticket-office that the whale-shark wasn't there is small and at another window than that were the prices are listed.

“A lot of 'wow' moments”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

One of the best attractions I have been to. In my opinion the best aquarium I have ever been to. We arrived there later in the afternoon which meant that there was less people around. We spent around 2.5 hours there.

Pros:
Big variety of animals
Closer to the end, you get a chance to touch a stingray in real life, very surreal
Penguins!
Information cards on each animal are also in english

Cons:
Quite a fair walk from the station (around 15-20 mins)
No food outlets inside so do have lunch before or pack some snacks for the kids

“Good for family and children”
Reviewed 7 August 2014 via mobile

Besides the title...adults can also enjoy the fish, penguins, dolphins and seals. Too bad when i visit the whale shark which is the main attraction here is on ' medical leave'. However i had fun watch penguins and dolphins. You start at the main entrance and remember to buy the booklet at the counter. There are small counter at every section of the aquarium where you can stamps on the booklet. Each stamp proves that you have visited this sections. Example at the dolpins area the stamp is a picture of a dolphin. Arrive early by 10am as the feeding time starts around this time. There is also less crowd at this time before the tour buses arrive. The aquarium is about 8 floors each floor indicates the depth of sea level you are in. So the deeper you 'dive' down you see funny lookong jelly fish. Very interesting and informative. Towards the end there is a touching area..you can touch some sharks...harmless sharks of course. But right before the touch section...there is a seal area and one of the seal, a really fat one is the latest attraction too. The seal have many expressions so look out for it and snap cute photos.

“Family Trip on Summer 2014”

Easy access by metro, Giant Ferris whell just a short walk. Many sea creatures shown here. Unfortunately no big shark here, only small ones. It's better if they provided animal show.

“Must see if you visit Osaka!!”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

One of the best Aquarium i've ever visited. This is my second visit to Kaiyukan.

They have great collection and if you're traveling with kids, they surely will enjoy their visit here.

Bring spare clothes since at the end of journey, you can touch fishes in pond, my kid wet all over her clothes but very happy to be able to do that.
