After Dotonbori, Shinsaibashi, the Aquarium and the Tenjin Matsuri Festival 2013 we felt like something a bit more quiet, so we headed to the Osaka-jo.
It is a very nice castle...surrounded by a very lovely park. The castle itself is pretty massive (and made out of concrete ... the original is long gone). There's no fee to the park or the castle area. Only if you want to go inside. On the castle's hill you have some great city views. There's hasn't been many people at the time we went - around 10am on a weekday. So it's good time to avoid the big crowds.
If you have some time to spare in Osaka, this castle is surely worth your time, even if you aren't interested in castles and history. Be sure to roam around the park for a while too.
