“Beyond expectation”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

replica of Osaka's old building on 8F/9F don't sound promising.
But while it is not big, it does produce some atmosphere of the 1900s Japanese village.
It's fun to be inside this slice of history as you can touch most of the stuff and walk or sit on it.
the audio English guide is good for the 9F section although 8F lacks any English translation.
Highlight could be the renting of traditional clothes(200 yen) , illumination change inside the village.

“Little gem”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

We visited the place in early morning. This is a little gem in the busy Osaka. They have houses of the ancient time that showcase how people live in the past. We met the friendly elder tour guide. Although we have language barrier, he was passionate to explain to us of the history behind each house. Definitely worth a visit!

“Lovely little interesting find”
Reviewed 31 August 2013

I found it was very interesting to have an insight into Japanese housing. We had noticed through our trip how small Japanese homes are, so it was great to learn more about their housing from historic life to modern day.

“Underwhelming at best.”
Reviewed 16 August 2013

We came to see an Edo era display of houses, there were maybe six such displays in total. You can explore them and peek inside, but most do not allow you to enter and sit down. The museum is not marked in English, so know where you are going prior to setting out. All in all, I would skip it. It felt like a waste of time.

“Interesting place”
Reviewed 15 August 2013

The museum offers visitors a glimpse into how Osaka looks like in the Edo period and the place was well kept, though fairly small. Please remember to go before 4pm as that is when the Kimono station closes!
