I visited on a weekday afternoon and was surprised there were hardly any other tourists there. I believe the procedure was to wait for a few visitors for the elevator trip but the apologetic staff sent me up on my own after a short wait when no one else turned up. I barely seems to take a minute for the super fast elevator to whisk me up 50 over stories. I wouldn't have minded enjoying the external view from the glass elevator a bit longer.
From there, there’s a long elevator up to the observation deck, which is an inverted pyramid atop the building. The deck offers a full 360 degree view without any obstructions and I can only say the view from 250m up is just awesome. The Osaka Bay area with it’s several bridges is very nice, even though they look quite small from that height. There are telescopes if you want a closer look at things and they have fashioned a number of casual seating areas if you want to just sit back and soak in the view, or even have a drink.
Getting there is an easy 5min walk from the nearby train station. I did get to see sunset from the Umeda Sky Building but I suspect I may have missed out on the better deal here. Recommended.
