“Amazing panoramic view of Osaka city”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

Visited the Osaka Prefectural Government Sakishima Building in late March 2014.

The building is also know as Cosmo Tower, and it is a short 10-minute walk from the Trade Center Mae Station. Entrance fee up to the observatory tower is JPY500 per person. Be sure to grab a brochure at the counter, as it will be helpful to identify buildings/ sights from the observatory tower. There is a cafe on the 55th floor if you need a place to snack.

We took the lift up to 53rd floor, and from there a long escalator all the way to 55th floor, where the observatory tower is situated. We were there at around 5pm on a Saturday. It wasn't overly crowded, so we were able to pick a nice spot and wait for the sunset. Sunset was around 6.10pm on that particular day, and lasted for only 5-10 minutes. Sunset view was amazing, so was the night view.

“Superb views”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

I visited on a weekday afternoon and was surprised there were hardly any other tourists there. I believe the procedure was to wait for a few visitors for the elevator trip but the apologetic staff sent me up on my own after a short wait when no one else turned up. I barely seems to take a minute for the super fast elevator to whisk me up 50 over stories. I wouldn't have minded enjoying the external view from the glass elevator a bit longer.

From there, there’s a long elevator up to the observation deck, which is an inverted pyramid atop the building. The deck offers a full 360 degree view without any obstructions and I can only say the view from 250m up is just awesome. The Osaka Bay area with it’s several bridges is very nice, even though they look quite small from that height. There are telescopes if you want a closer look at things and they have fashioned a number of casual seating areas if you want to just sit back and soak in the view, or even have a drink.

Getting there is an easy 5min walk from the nearby train station. I did get to see sunset from the Umeda Sky Building but I suspect I may have missed out on the better deal here. Recommended.

“Awsome views”
Reviewed 23 June 2013

Visited the observatory building in the late evening around 7 - 8 PM. Its a must see simply for the view. from the ground level you take a elevator to the 53rd floor (if not mistaken) and then an amazing escalator ride to the 55th floor.

The views were great, as it was in the evening and beautiful from all sides of the building, cant comment how it will be during the daytime, but i bet it must be as good as the evening time

There is a cafe up on the observatory level and small cubicles for the couples :)

There is a admission fee, but we were using the 2-Day Osaka pass and hence free.

“Amazing view, absolutely must go there!”
Reviewed 19 May 2013

Superb view any time of the day/evening, it's even better to catch the sunset there; they have a nice cafe and it's not expensive, you can enjoy a drink and sit there for as much as you want; a 2day pass for tourist is a great deal in Osaka! You get transportation and a lot of amazing places to see included in the 2700jpy fee(approx 30usd)

“Nice view!”
Reviewed 24 October 2009

If you are looking for a view of Osaka this is the place to go. It is a really tall and modern building with 360 degree views of the area. There is also a restaurant on the top floor observation deck which is a nice place to go for dinner. The Maritime Museum is also within walking distance.
