“Just awesome”
Reviewed 16 August 2014 via mobile

If I have yo describe this hotel in one word, it would be "Awesome".
We had booked for two connecting rooms but due to unavailability of them at the time of check-in we were given a two bedroom suite without any extra cost. Which was really nice and spacious.
Staff are very helpful and go out of their way to assist in any matter that you may have.
The service desk staff were really great. They guided us on what to do and where to ho throughout our stay.
Location of this hotel is just brilliant. It is attached to a very nice shopping mall and main train and subway station of Osaka. Neighbourhood around the hotel is also very bustling. There are several great tourist spots just walking distance away.
I can go on writing but just simply If you are visiting Osaka the place to stay is this hotel.

We stayed at the Intercontinental Osaka on the first week of Aug 2014, before the big typhoon arrived. We took the JR from Kansai Airport to Osaka Station. It took a little over an hour with multiple stops.

Its in the far end of the Grand Front Osaka mall which is connected to the station, so it was quick and easy to find. The hotel is just over a year old, so everything is still new. The room was big enough that they put a big rock in the middle with a tea set on top. It's a very luxurious and new hotel. The lobby is on the 20/F and the rooms are above this floor. In the lobby, there is a greeter that bows to say good bye when the elevator door closes. The breakfast is good and adequate, but we would like a bigger selection. People giving bad reviews are outliers. I've stayed at several Osaka hotels before, and this is the best one. It beats the other luxury hotels, because its new and the location is great.

Osaka Station is about a 5 mins walk through the mall. We got a JR ICOCA card and could go to Kyoto or Kobe in about 1/2 hr. After a tiring day, getting back to Osaka Station and walking 5 mins through the Grand Front Osaka mall to our room is really good. If it was above the station, it would be better. Its only a few subway stops from Shinsaibashi. Osaka Station is located in Umeda, which is a major business district with many malls, dept stores, and restaurants. Yodobashi, a multi-floor big electronics store, is across the street. Hankyu Dept Store has a huge lower floor, B1, that is food heaven. There are usually restaurant floors in the upper floors of malls or dept stores.

Room Tip: Choose the west side to view the sky garden building. The north side is good, and the east side can...

Opened only a year ago. Fabulous hotel. Unlike most Intercontinental hotels I know (including those in Tokyo), which are all solid 4 star hotels, the Osaka Intercontinental is a step up, 5 star all the way, competing head to head with the St Regis or Peninsula or Four Seasons type hotel. The room was very grand (to be fair we were upgraded, I am IHG Platinum), with spectacular views. The service of the staff in both the hotel itself, and the restaurants, was impeccable (our request to be seated between meals, at 10.30am, caused them inconvenience but they bent over backwards to accommodate us).

If you are arriving for the first time via Umeda or Osaka stations: even though it is close, don’t try to get there underground. Get to street level. Find the red Hep Navis ferris wheel, the Yodabashi store, or the Intercontinental building itself (it has the name at the top) to get your directional bearings. The stations underground are rabbit warrens and the Intercontinental is not easily accessed via the mall level (although you will be able to figure the route when departing the hotel, as opposed to arriving).

The InterContinental Osaka is a new hotel (one year old) occupying the top half of a skyscraper about three blocks from Osaka Station and connected to it by indoor walkways. Rooms are huge by Japanese standards, luxuriously appointed and extremely stylish, with granite floor waterfall-style showers, elegant bathtubs, indirect lighting and attractive accents. Motor operated black-out drapes mask the impressive views when you want to sleep. Soundproofing between rooms is excellent. Housekeeping is immaculate, with a turndown service presenting a different snack each evening. Staff are English speaking and helpful and the hotel has a line of English-speaking taxis at the door. Hotel restaurants are very expensive, but offer a wide variety of high-quality cuisines and the attached luxury shopping mall has dozens of restaurants , pastry shops and coffee shops of all price levels and all styles. Because the hotel is new and signage is "tasteful," not all cab drivers know where it is. From Osaka station, the best option is to walk to the hotel, rather than taking a taxi.

My third trip in Osaka, decided to try this hotel.

As Ambassador IHG member, they really give us the benefit of being their loyal member.

Give a full credit to the concierge department who serve us and help us makes reservation even when we are not staying in their hotel anymore.

Got upgraded to 2 Bedroom suite and view was AMAZING. we can see the whole osaka city from top floor, and not to forget Hotel is located in Osaka station, so traveling to anywhere is so easy. Hotel is also attached to malls so shopping and dining would not be a problem at all.

Surely gonna stay here again in my future visit to Osaka.

We stayed at Intercontinental Osaka for five nights in July, and we totally enjoyed our stay. We travel a lot on business and are very lucky that we have stayed in the best hotels over the globe, but we are utterly impressed with the service of the concierge and the bell desk team. They went out of the way to arrange pick up and drop off service for us at the bus station. Which is deeply appreciated as we are traveling with very young kids. A big typhoon hit while we stayed at the hotel, and we worried about delays, as we needed to return home on schedule to host a big event. The staff (not only one, a lot of them) were notified about our situation, and took the initiative to call us and update us on a regular basis about the typhoon status. A very very caring hotel!

Rooms are extremely spacious, especially by Japanese standard. We were traveling with two small kids, and we asked for an extra bed. That extra bed was very comfortable as well.

Location is terrific, definitely one of the best in Osaka.

The only little complain I have is the housecleaning. The house cleaning ladies didn't wash the cups / plates we used, perhaps they were worried that we were not done with our bread or tea. But they did put in new cups and plates.

That said, the service level of the staff and the ambience is so great that we are more than happy to look over this little flaw!

All in all, we are totally satisfied with our stay We love Intercontinental Osaka so much that we have decided to go to Osaka every year instead of Tokyo!

Big thumbs up - especially to the guest relations team!
