“Maybe not at this time......”
Reviewed 21 March 2012

We stayed at this hotel in December and January. Usually the Sunroute hotel chain is one that I would recommend, but at this time I would suggest staying at a different hotel due to the noise from the construction accross the road. We stayed 8 nights all up and was woken up very early in the morning with the whistles and construction noise. Also with the fire station accross the road, you can be woken up at all hours with the siren going off if there is a fire call/emergency. The location is great and the price is good for the budget person, normally I think this would be a good hotel to stay at but while the construction is going on you may want try elsewhere until it is finnished. We are travelling in March and staying at the New Hankyu this time.

Room Tip: Maybe the rooms not overlooking the street would be better for noise control

We are spending 4 nights here as we are in town for a wedding. I have lived in Japan before so was aware that sometimes accommodation can be less than ideal. This place has a lovely entrance, a women only floor, great security and is very clean. In your room are great amenities like toothbrush, hair brush, shower cap, razor, slippers, yukata. They have large size bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash for you to use. (All smell great). The room size is rather small, it has what I would call a king single bed, but it’s comfortable and has everything you need like free internet, TV, little fridge etc. Honestly for two 25 females travelling, this place is safe, convenient (only 8-10 min walk from Umeda station) and great value. Highly recommend!

Stayed here with a friend and found it to be a good location an easy 10 minute walk to the station and restaurants/bars/shopping. Rooms are nice for a 4 star standard, clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I wouldn't really recommend the breakfast unless you really MUST eat western food.

I booked this hotel after reading reviews about its proximity to the train stations.

The hotel is about 15mins on foot from Umeda station (an interchange station) and about 10mins from Nankatsu station. That however is too far for a traveller to walk in Japan when there are hotels right next to the subway exit, such as our Tokyo hotel or even our hotel in Namba, Osaka. Walking in the sweltering humid weather was really bad.

The hotel is also in need of a refurbishment, it probably had its best days in the early 80s. Though the room was clean, the carpet was stained, room was small, wallpaper was peeling both in the corridors and room. The walls between rooms were also thin, I could hear loud and clear, other guests laughing in the next room, and talking in the corridor.

Most of the staff have trouble understanding simple English.

This has to be one of the worst hotels I have stayed in so far. For the same price, there are better hotels in Osaka to stay in.

Clean, small rooms. Good location, 10 mins walk to Osaka JR station. Perfectly adequate for price but no frills. No Internet PCs for use. We had a room at the back and there was noise from the fans outside in to the first night and from the street below so you may like to request a room on a higher floor although it quietened down on subsequent nights. Buffet breakfast available in restaurant but we didn't try because there was a cheaper coffee shop around the corner with good breakfasts Good sushi restaurant next door!

I stayed here for two nights back in March 2006. Coming off a three night stay in Tokyo in a tiny business hotel where I could hardly move, this place was a welcome relief.

While the language barrier was a problem with some of the staff (which you'll find everywhere in Japan), the rooms themselves were fairly spacious and just what I needed as a solo traveller (also would be very adequate for two people). The area of Kita (Umeda) is quite nice, especially at night, and it's only a few minutes walk to the main Hankyu Umeda train station and the heart of the area.

While the views from my room were nothing spectacular (I had a back room, looking out on some fairly modest buildings), you don't really go to Osaka for the views.

I would reccomend this hotel for those on a fairly modest budget and who are looking for a comfortable stay.
