“Simple hotel in the heart of an amazing city”
Reviewed 5 February 2014

We arrived for a 2 night stay at around 9:30am after a long 14 hours of connecting flights from London, the staff were very kind to allow the majority of us to check in straight away, and the rest of us by 11am.

The rooms are simple but very clean - the bathroom although small has everything you need..

Free wifi was really helpful, it's not good enough to watch films and use Skype etc, but we spent most of our time exploring the city so that wasn't much of an issue at all.

Breakfast wasn't great, so I would recommend going to eat - there are some fantastic places just around the corner.

The only downside was that the pillows were terrible, hardly a big deal, but they were filled with hard plastic balls which felt like you were lying on a sack of pebbles which was pretty strange..

The staff were great. Would consider staying again for sure.

Stayed there for one night as part of the tour package. Rooms were clean and of decent size. Hotel had free wifi even in the room. Breakfast spread was also good. Location wise, not bad, with a lot of food outlets within walking distance. If I happen to be in Osaka, would consider staying there.

It is the second time I am staying in this hotel and I must say they have improved a bit. At least now they have wifi, a year ago they only had ethernet - not the best solution for person with tablet or netbook.
Hotel has very nice and relaxing onsen - there is sauna and several baths with thermal water. However, I wouldn't recommend their massage - you can find much better ones in the area. The same can be said about the food - in this district there are plenty of restaurants to choose from - from great breakfast places (also very cheap) to fine sushi, grill, pretty descent italian places and many more. No need to eat at a hotel at all. One other huge bonus to the location is proximity to wonderful Osaka Philharmonic Hall. Hotel is also 15 minutes walk from large shopping areas (like Yodobashi, Daimaru and others).
The main complaint is adressed towards the lack of sockets. There is none even close to the bed - the nearest one (and the only one, except for the bathroom) is in the opposite side of the room so even with the longest computer charger it gets practically impossible to use computer in bed. So you have to be stuck to a desk and a chair. It is just very stupid designing miscalculation. On the other hand, hotel has great curtains - not a single dot of sunshine goes through them even on a sunny day, so you can sleep until whenever you wish to.

I stayed here for three nights. The hotel is in a good location which was just as well as I didn't want to spend any time in my cheerless hotel room. The decor is very tired and really in need of an update - the rooms are very brown, dull and a bit depressing! The bed was awful - random springs poking out left, right and centre. Staff were generally nice and eager to help and there are lots of bars and restaurants close by.

Hotel Hanshin is fairly basic but clean. there is free internet but only via Lan cable. It feels like it really needs a refurbishment - it looks like odd cosmetic things have been done but it is pretty tired.
It is a pretty good location.

Room Tip: floor 23 seems to have better rooms

I had a 2 night stay here while on business. It's in a great location being close to many saki bars and restaurants. There is an exceptional fresh bakery in the alleyways across the street called Pane Porcini. I recommend the sweet rolls. Also within walking distance of all the shopping and a few central train stations.
I don't speak Japanese so it was difficult to communicate with any of the staff about any concerns. But that's my bad.
This is a hotel that caters to mostly Japanese business and tourists so if you or someone on your party doesn't speak it you might want to stay somewhere else.
My biggest gripe is that for a business hotel the Internet was completely unreliable. There is no wi-fi in the rooms. No problem for me, I usually bring a wireless router to connect to the hard line ethernet for an uncompromised signal. But even with that there were times when the connection was either lost or too slow to even load the google homepage. This is one of my biggest pet peeves with any hotel much less a business hotel.
The rooms are small here but not uncomfortable. Fairly clean. I lifted the mattress to search for bedbugs and instead found a stash of condoms. So I expect there's a fair amount of DNA floating around the room. But hey, what hotel doesn't have that?
Overall not a bad hotel but I wouldn't stay here again by choice..... Unless I was out of condoms.

We stayed in this hotel when we attended a convention and it was very convenient because the station is just right across the street. There were a lot of places nearby where u can grab something to eat even late at night. The hotel was not really special but it was really clean and well maintained and the staff was efficient and very gracious..breakfast was just ok... not too many choices and it was mostly the same each day. One problem is that there was no wifi.(not even in the lobby) , a must have for travellers who want to save on roaming phone charges. If shopping is the reason for coming here other hotels would have a better location with almost same cost.
