I loved Hotel Raizan.
Like the other reviews said, it was a bit of a walk from the station (every bit of seven minutes). But all things considered, that's not too bad.
My room was cheap, clean, and comfortable. I got cold at night, so I was glad the AC worked well.

I didn't end up using the showers, but the bathroom was clean and nice. Also, they had free wi-fi (yay).

The walls were a bit thin, but it was easy to sleep. I woke up at 3am hungry and in need of a snack, and ended up running into a couple other travelers going to a nearby store for food.
The people at the front desk were very friendly, they let me check in a couple hours early. Check in and check out were both very easy.

I totally recommend this hotel to anyone. Apparently they also have nice, cheap double rooms.

This hotel was far from what the site led you to believe. It was noisy, cramped, and dirty. Wearing slippers in the bathroom was absolutely necessary. It's Japan, so slippers were provided, but I didn't want to use them, because the bathroom was filthy anyway, and the slippers were guaranteed to be as filthy as the bathroom itself. Nasty. The bath was okay, but again, it wasn't that clean. The room itself was clean, thank God, but it's absolutely tiny.
The hotel is also in one of the most dangerous areas of Osaka. There are all kinds of suspicious characters hanging around, lots of homeless, lots of cops.
Spend the money and go to a decent hotel.

The hotel is clean and quiet, but no breakfast. The location is really closed to Shin - Immamiya Station (just less than 10 minutes walking), we could find a lot of convenient stores around the hotel. The staffs are very kind and helpful. They allowed us to keep our baggage for hours after checking out while we were visiting other tourist sites. We surely will stay in this hotel when we visit Osaka again.

Room Tip: Just choose western type.

The service was OK. We even got some discount for the charge. It is more cheaper if u book thru the hotel's website rather than the online booking agent. Conveniently located near some subway and train stations with several cheap food stalls located nearby. Standard japanese hotel style with satisfaction cleanliness. WIFI connection was superbly fast. Last time I DL some Jdramas with speed of 1.2 Mb/s

Room Tip: Confirm the location and which floor is the nearest bathroom and toilet located. Choose room which i...

I recently went to Japan on a solo trip and stayed at Hotel Raizan South for a total of 5 nights.
Since I'm a female, so I was given a room on the female-only level 7 (single room, japanese style).

There's free wifi (get password from reception) in the room and free coffee in the morning.
They also have printouts of directions and guides for short trips near Osaka for guests to take if they want. I also liked how there is a microwave at the corridor of my level (just a few steps away from my room door) which I was able to use to reheat the food I bought from nearby convenience stores.

The staff were also helpful and friendly.

Although the area in which the hotel is located at is kinda dodgy (saw a few homeless people) but the location is good since it's very accessible to JR and Nankai Shin-Imamiya station, and also subway Doubutsuen-mae station. Direct Nankai Airport Express train from Shin-Imamiya station to Kansai Airport only costs 890yen. It's also a 10mins walk to shopping centers at Tennoji station area.

I saved quite a lot of money by staying at this budget hotel in Osaka. When talking about budget, meaning smaller room, poor amenities and location. But it may not be all true. The location was good and it takes about 5 mins walk from Shin-imamiya station. Next, the room size is ok and most of the amenities were provided like slippers, bath towels and toothbrush.

The most unpleasant about this hotel is the slow lift you have to wait all the time. The bath is located on the first floor and we were staying at 7th floor. So imagine you have to wait and wait for the lift to be available and it moves rather slow.

The public bath is quite run down and water temperature is quite hot compared to most of the hot baths I have tried in Japan. Also, the public bath is quite crowded most of the time, however you do manage to get a space to soak in after all.

Overall, a super budget hotel (less than 4000 yen per night for twin sharing) and reception staffs are very helpful indeed,

Room Tip: There is a special floor catering only for ladies, you can request it.

Dobutsuenmae is the nearest station, Do Not use the Shinimamiya station,as we can't speak English and wasted almost half hour stranded elsewhere.
Twin room was really spacious by Japanese standard, good sunlight and very clean. The receptionist is friendly, informative and considerate. Bathroom on the ground floor was quite small, but water pressure is strong, toilet on our level is very functional.
