Hotel Oaks Shin-Osaka
Ranked #104 of 339 Hotels / Ryokan in Osaka

My whole family stayed here for 5 days at 9th floor. The room is spacious in Japanese standard. Closed to metro and Hankyu subway which makes travel easy to Kobe and Kyoto. Room light is a bit dim, and facilitates are dated but clean. comfortable soft beds. Not much amenities. There is a goument city (supermarket) opened 24 hours a day so it's easy that you can buy everything. There are some restuarants too.
Only comment is wifi in room is very very weak. It makes us quite trobuled. we sometimes need to open the door or go to the corridor to receive emails or surf the net. Given the low price we paid, around HKD 400 for a semi double room and HKD 300 for a single room. We've no complaint. Defintely we will go back if we travel to Osaka again.

The hotel is very close to the subway and just one station away from the main Osaka train station. Also, if you're going to Osaka for a JE concert, I would recommend this hotel as it's pretty easy to get to the Dome from there and back. Only issue is that after a concert the train station is packed and it takes a while to get back (for reference, after the NY KAT-TUN Countdown con, it took around an hour and a half to get back to the hotel, even though it took around 20 minutes getting there).

There's a couple conbini's (convenience stores) close to the hotel in case you're feeling peckish and want to grab a snack. When I was booking, unfortunately there were no non-smoking rooms available so I had to book the one for smokers. I was a bit worried about the smell, but as I was only staying for a night, I figured it was a non-issue. You could smell the musty old smoke when you walked into the room, but it was easy to get used to. Unfortunately, once I got home I noticed my PJ's reeked of cigarette smoked and I had to wash them.

The room itself is dated, but clean. The bed was comfortable and I got a great nights sleep in it. The pressure of the water in the shower is excellent, no problems with being able to change the water temperature either. Air con worked fine, as I was staying on New Years Eve, it was nice to be able to quickly warm up the room and get into bed. Overall, a great place to stay if you're on a budget and don't mind the look of the room. Wouldn't recommend sleeping in the smokers room for more than a night, though.

Room Tip: Definitely try to avoid the smokers room if possible. If not, I think it's okay for a night or t...

We based ourselves at this hotel for a couple of days as we did day trips to Osaka, Kyoto and Nara. Paid about $80 a night plus 2Xbreakfast, which is relatively inexpensive for Japan. I would class this hotel 2.5 to 3 stars quality, which is about right for the price. Rooms are clean but everything feels dated. Staff are friendly, but I was a bit disappointed they don't provide plug adaptors for different plug heads. We didn't see any signs of prostitution, as mentioned in another review. Location wise, it's all right. The hotel is right at the exit of the subway, one station down from the Shin-Osaka JR station. I guess if you're looking to save some money, then this hotel is all right. Otherwise, consider paying more and stay south at Namba which is right where the famous Osaka night life is.

The hotel is very close to the subway and just one station away from the Shinkansen train station. Restaurants and shops are around. The rooms need a renovation urgently. Reception and service is okay but non-smoking rooms are rare. Try to get a room as far away from the highway-faced side as possible.

This hotel is not exactly in the main tourist area of Osaka, in fact it is more like what you would call one of the many red light districts in Osaka. It is very easy to get around with the subway station less than 1 minute walk away. The hotel reception is also great with most of them speaking good english. Breakfast is just average but it comes free so who cares?!
