“Location was the best”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

Had a four night stay at this hotel, location was the best, walk out the door and you are basically in the main shopping street with the trams going past every couple of minutes. Our twin room was a decent size and beds were comfortable, staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful with so many choices, it was so good we used this restaurant for dinner too. Will be staying again on our next visit.

Room Tip: Twin rooms are usually larger

I stayed here from 21-Aug to 24-Aug, with my husband and 1 year old child.

We stayed in a room with a double bed (free for the child) and breakfast was included in our plan.

Pros
1. Hotel was 3-5 minutes walk from Chinatown, Daiei supermarket, Log Kit sasebo burger, Starbucks, Mr Donuts etc. No lack of food outlets.
2. The room was very spacious, and our child had lots of space to roam and play in the room.
3. The breakfast in the 2F restaurant was very good - it was all organic food, Japanese breakfast (rice, soup, lots of variety for the small dishes, pickles, etc) The food was different all 3 days when we ate there as well.
4. Staff were very helpful when asked on recommendations for sightseeing, questions etc.

Cons
1. Room had very dim lighting. There was no ceiling light (only down lights on 2 areas of the ceiling, bedside lamps, mirror lamp) and for a large room, it was too dark for us. Conducive for sleeping perhaps, but we could barely read at night in the middle of the bed. We did inform the staff, and they immediately sent a desk lamp up to the room. Helped brightened the room slightly, but was abit too glaring. They could perhaps install ceiling lamps in their rooms.
2. Parking lot is a slight distance away (although this seemed typical of hotels in Kyushu cities). It costs 1000 yen per night to park.
3. Air conditioning was the old type; had quite large ventilation gaps where the child could drop stuff in. I'm fine with it if I didn't have a child with me but she kept trying to throw stuff down the aircon vents such as papers, tea cups, etc. Perhaps the room could do with some form of renovation soon.

Other than that, it was quite a good stay, I would recommend this hotel for the room size, location and price. and of course the breakfast.

This is a truly a wonderful hotel. The staff are all so kind and helpful. They are always friendly and willing to help. I travel a lot, but this place is one of the best in the world. The twin room has two double beds and quite comfortable. There are about 33 per cent discount for those 60 or older and 50 per cent discount for 70 or older. The price/quality ratio can hardly be beaten.

The location is excellent. You can walk to almost all tourist sites easily. A big parking structure and supermarket are only one or two minutes away. Many stores and eating places are also within a few minutes walk. The Chinese restaurant (Gunraitei) and the French restaurant that the hotel recommended were excellent. China Town is nearby but the food there was not good.

Nagasaki has a relaxed atmosphere with a historical flavor. People are kind and warm. I would like to come back and definitely stay in this hotel again.

Stayed here for three nights. Room was fair size for Japanese hotel. Very clean and comfortable. The breakfast
buffett was fabulous. Restaurant Is called Tia. Great selection of Japanese items. American breakfast choices limited to eggs, cereal, etc. the restaurant is known for organic foods. The hotel is in a great location across the street to the entrance to the covered shopping street (arcade). Very convenient as the tram stop is right there. Nagasaki is a great city with most attractions within walking distance of the Victoria Inn except the Atomic Bomb Museum. If you have been to the A Bomb Museum in Hiroshima you could pass on the one in Nagasaki but the Peace Park is very nice to visit. Will definitely come back to Nagasaki and stay at the Victoria Inn. Service was very gracious.

we were there december 2012, the rooms are small by australian or european sizes but all you use them for is somewhere to sleep as your out venturing about most of the time, so found it no problem. Nice and clean, and staff very helpful, breakfst was very good, organic food, traditional japanese or if you just want cereal or toast you can have that. would easy go back and use this hotel again if we went back to Nagasaki, nice location for catching trams or buses and general shopping,

Great central location, with lovely rooms and good service. The Victorian feel of the hotel was really quaint! The highlight though was definitely the breakfast - set in a quiet dining room, the buffet breakfast is without question the best I've ever had - all macro / organic traditional japanese foods I could have stayed all morning eating it! The dining staff were so lovely and kept the buffet open past the official closing time each day since we were late risers. Also excellent value for money! Can't recommend enough.

The rooms are average. We stayed here when it was the Holiday Inn and not much renovation was done under the new management. The photos made the rooms look better than it really is. Although it is old, it is clean. The draw for us was the fabulous Japanese organic breakfast. Lots of selections and prepared with care.
