Disappointing

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Jul 2016
Needs renovation badly we ate in nearby China Town for dinner but hotel breakfast okay. Very little English spoken in hotel or on the television, try a better hotel even if it costs a bit more would not recommend this. And Nagasaki is a long way from Tokyo so after a long trip you want something okay.

Our double room was quite generous by Japanese standards although somewhat compact by those of Australia. We had enough space for easy movement and a comfortable bed.
The staff were very helpful and courteous during our stay and made every effort to aid us with our non-existant Japanese language skills.
The hotel is well located for many of the tourist highlights of Nagasaki and has good access to the local tram system.
The hotel is almost in Chinatown - an extensive undercover shopping arcade.

I have stayed here a few times and it's not like it used to be. Started off porly with no help from staff whatsoever with our luggage. We had to ask for a trolley despite the fact we were struggling.
Stayed on the 8th floor and when we exited the lift there was a strong smell of stale tobacco. The room size was OK but was run down and the curtains were stained yellow.
On of the good things about the hotel was it's very classy bar/resaurant where one could have a nice meal and sit in comfort reading a book. The bars opening times have been changed to 12:00 to 18:00 in the evening, ridiculous. We are staying for 10 nights and will visit friends and family. One redeeming feature is it's location.

Room tip: Only tried one room but as I said it is outdated and could do with a complete defumigation and cleanup. Would suggest the Richmond Hotel.

The hotel was actually better than I had expected. Just next to China town - nothing much to do there. Hotel staff was very helpful in helping with directions although especially the parking lot staff although he couldn't speak English. Breakfast was good.

The location is great, next to chinatown and the streetcar is close by. Some of the staff sopeaks a bit of English, otherwise try the Washington hotel around the corner for information. The rooms are spacious and bed relativly soft ( we had a refurbished room on 10th floor). LIke a I said, a very good option in Nagasaki

There was constant machine noise from the HVAC and from the building next door. The cold water tap in the bathroom sink never ran cold, and drinking warm water felt wrong. Aside from that it was okay I guess. On the edge of Chinatown and a couple blocks from Hamanmachi there's easy dining to find.
