“Excellent value”

This a super little hotel with pleasantly finished rooms, great staff, good breakfast and in a good location. I really would recommend this hotel it offers great value for money. I can only reiterate was previous reviewers have said. Definitely one of the best hotels we stayed in in Kyushu. The staff spoke good English and were able to give advice and make recommendations they even made a reservation for us by telephone.

Nice hotel that offers great value for money. Located in an old colonial building, the hotel has a Portugese theme. While this could easily have been very tacky, which I have encountered many times in Japan, the owners made it very charming. The hotel really felt very European. While not big, the rooms where very comfortable. Free, fast WiFi is available throughout the building. Location is excellent, close to a tramstop and next to the "Dutch slope".

Out of all the hotels on our weeks stay on Kyshu this was probably the best. The receptionists were helpful and efficient and spoke English well which was a rare pleasure on Kyushu.

The rooms were decorated nicely and the hotel had a feel of quality about it. Hotel has a convenience store practically beside it as well as a Quay with some nice restaurant just a 10 minute walk away. Not in city centre but location otherwise good (think its easy enough to get tram there- Just a few km away!)

Hotel has limited number of parking spaces and we were lucky enough to get one in basement of hotel. Fast and free WiFi throughout.

Great location. Great rooms. Nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. Safe and quiet neighborhood. Good security (elevator & room key cards). BS TV channels in Japanese, but no cable or English channels.

Compared to Fukuoka there aren't that many selections of hotel. I found a great rate online and was very happy to find a rare deal on a 3 day weekend. it was a semi-double room bed for 2 people. I was very disappointed by how small the room was and how small the bed was... 2 females in one bed, you get what you pay for. If you were a couple the size of the bed wouldn't be a complaint I guess. I requested a non-smoking room but the room wreaked of cigarettes and the sofa even had a cigarette burn on it so had to open the window for ventiliation. We could see the bay from our room and it was conveniently close to the Holland Hill and Glover house. The hotel was cutely decorated and the halls and reception gave out a nice antique feeling that fit the city. Our room was more of a business type of room but we only had to shower and get some shut eye for one night so no complaints. Staff were friendly and helpful as well.

My partner and I stayed there two nights at the beginning on March. The staff was helpful, the two separate-beds' (my request) room was comfortable--though there was no view from the window except the next building--no trouble with the TV, and the breakfast was rich and varied, a Japanese and well as Western style. The WI-Fi was nevertheless very slow and I had to ask for a cable for my computer to be able to connect myself. My partner, with a Smartphone had to go down to the lobby to use it. Perhaps the most advantageous point of this hotel to a short-stay visitor is its distance from places of interest: 100 meters from the Hollander Slope, 500 meters from the Chinese quarter, 300 meters from the Sofukuji Temple, 10 minutes walk from Dejima, and 15 minutes walk from the port. If you prefer to walk along the main street, it takes about 20 minutes to the main station, and another 30 minutes of walk to the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum and the Peace Park. Upon request one can also receive at the reception desk a free-ride ticket on a special bus to Mount Inasa to see the beautiful town at night (a special discount ticket of 950 yen, instead of 1,200 yen, is also offered at the hotel for the journey to the summit of the Mount Inasa by a ropeway). In short, had a nice stay in this hotel, and enjoyed the city.
