The bus has 23 stops but I felt like we were driving in the same area for the first 10 stops. Felt a bit waist of time. Great that they take you to the palace, little India and China town. It gives you a over all feel of KL. The bus condition was not the best we have experienced. Usually these busses are fairly good equipped. They was selling water bottles but refused when I asked twice.. No reason given. Other than that it was very OK experience. KL have a free bus service I am sure we could Have done great with that..rather than paying 45 RM for H-O-H-O.
This was an excellent decision! The Hop On Hop Off Bus in KL brought us to 23 different destinations and we got to see and learn about many sights that we would not have even thought to go to! It even brought us to our fave shopping places! Highly recommended for anyone visiting KL especially if you want to see as much as possible within a short period of time.
We have done many HOHO buses and this one was not the best, but also not the worst. The buses were quite punctual and it does cover a large portion of KL. They do not have headsets, they just give the commentary over a loud speaker. It is a computer generated voice so there is no inflexion or emotion and quite often it was hard to understand what she was saying.
The open upper level of the bus gets very hot mid-day so everyone wants to be inside where the a/c is.
Some of the stops seemed to be where nothing of interest was. One was at a train station that was under construction.
Overall, it is a good way to see the City and get to some of the attractions that you might not get to otherwise.
We've done 'Hop on, Hop off' tours in London, Cape Town and Sydney so when I spotted one in KL i booked online before we arrived in the country.
I have to say though that I'm a bit disappointed with the KL tour. We hopped into 3 different buses, none had working air con (which the staff knew about because they kept checking it and shouting over walkie talkies) the busses were tatty and the commentary was poor. There were no headphones that could be plugged into the seats so that guests could select their language even though the facility was there it just wasn't working, so the commentary was over the PA in badly translated English, difficult to hear as those that didn't understand English chatted amongst themselves loudly. The other problem which I guess is the fault of the tour company is the KL traffic jams so the buses were only crawl along, getting nowhere fast which was frustrating.
Give you an easy way of getting around kl. 23 stops easy to use. They sell one and two day passes. We had three types of buses can get a bit hot with open deck.
Well a go.
“Hop On Hop Off” bus service is the most convenient and the best way to see most of the places in KL. Start in the early morning and by the end of the day you would have covered almost all the places of your interest in KL. Ticket price is very affordable. Cost for 24 hour duration is RM 45 and RM 73 for 48 hours which makes inexpensive sightseeing transport service.
The buses are neat and clean but when sitting outside the recorded clips is very difficult to hear from its sound system. Some buses are in pretty bad condition.
The buses run in every 20 to 30 minutes although they advertise as 10 minute's intervals. On some stops they wait for 10 minutes to give you a quick chance to take photos.
It is undoubtedly the fastest, simplest and easiest way to discover and experience Kuala Lumpur, which I particularly recommend for tourists who stay there for a short period and for those who visit KL for the first time and to who do not know where to start exploring. The bus is cheap and easy and less confusing. It takes you right to the doorstep of the attractions which is very useful for a first timer especially.
Rush hour in KL is between 4-7pm and the movement of traffic in the city is very slow. Therefore it is advisable to use it early in the day as the less traffic is found then before getting it worse in the afternoons and evenings. If you wish to come to Sri Lanka, If you wish to come to Sri Lanka, I can help you if you inform me through the message box, found in pop up got by clicking my profile photo or my name in this review.
The commentary given does not always refer to the specific destination and they have to provide more information when stopping at a destination than what they give now. You are not informed of whether you can enter the attraction or not, also the cost of the ticket prices for some places (eg: KLCC tower, bird Park, Aquaria). If they give such information, it avoids you getting down from that bus, to find out for yourself and then wait for another one, which is a waste of time and lead you to frustration.
The air conditioning didn't work that well to combat the hotness of the KL in the noon. One bus I traveled had no A/C and got boiled inside. There is no headphones provided and accompanying commentary is sub-standard.
Suggesting to use more buses to reduce the time of waiting from 30 min to 10 min as they advertise. They are not regular, maybe due to the traffic and on certain buses, there were more people than seats looking like a commuter type transport.
When it rained as mostly takes place in KL, the bus may leak and you bound to get soaked.
Consider the negative points and it is better to introduce some new buses and improve the service of the Hop On Hop Off buses in giving a better service to tourists on sightseeing in KL.
