Good Hotels in Kl aren't cheap, and most are overpriced by 20%. Fraser Place is a nice hotel but it's overpriced!

I had a disastrous start to my stay. I checked in and the room was excellent although the wi-fi wasn't working. I was told it would be fixed in 5 minutes.
10 minutes later I was told they were sending a technician and would call me.
Another 10 minutes they hadn't returned my call and the technician hadn't arrived, and after already unpacking I asked to move to another room as i required the internet urgently.
Finally after 45 minutes I was moved to another room...which unfortunately wasn't as nice as the first room.

The wi-fi was ok in the second room although it could not play a youtube video with pausing constantly, and using skype was almost impossible. I require wi-fi for business.

The room has all the amenities such as knives, forks, cups, music etc, and although the second room wasn't as nice as the first it was still a nice room but very dark (Room 1603)

The breakfast is excellent with a variety to suit every taste.
The location is good for night time entertainment and bars, and its only a 5 minute walk to the mono rail.

But the elevators are a joke!!!! Honestly, if you are going to an appointment leave 10 to 15 minutes early so your not late for your appointment. There are 3 elevators and they must be the slowest elevators in the WORLD!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the same side as 1512, it's the brighter side of the building.

Dear Greg S,

Thank you for your review and we appreciate the detailed feedback of your recent stay with us. We are glad that our room, amenities and breakfast have met your expectations. We also have noted all your comments and I would like to personally apologize for the inconveniences you have experienced.

Unfortunately, we are not able to "increase" the speed of the elevators but we do have in total 6 elevators, 3 each on East & West Wing.

Providing excellent customer service is one of the things we pride ourselves on. We will look into your comments and we will re-visit our training plan on all areas you have mentioned for further improvements.

We look forward to be at your service again on your next visit to Kuala Lumpur.

Dear Ahmed D,

Thank you for your recent stay with us and your feedback. In all our apartment units, we do provide additional pillows. Our restaurant, Swatches has rotational buffet menu which provides enough variety on a daily basis.

However, we do value all feedback and will share your comments with our associates for service improvement.

We look forward to be at your service again on your next visit to Kuala Lumpur.

Brilliant hotel with some great rooms. We booked a 1+1 room, which means 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Lovely fully equipped kitchen. Comfy beds and 2 TVs. The breakfast is pretty good, but could be improved by adding bacon.

We stayed at Fraser Place for three nights at August 2014.
The location of the hotel is great for sightseeing, close to the Petronas ant bukit bintang and in a safe neighborhood.
The rooms are big, clean, modern and comfortable. They provide a descent stay in KL, but they lack that luxury and that "extra" feeling that one would expect from a five star hotel.
The staff at the reception also are ok but not extra polite, for example they never smile or talk too much, as if they don't like you.
The breakfast has a great variety of foods, both Asian and European dishes, but is also not memorable.
Overall, it is a good option in KL downtown especially if one finds a good deal like we did. But not a five star hotel to spend a great amount of money on.

The majority of reviews are positive, and I fully acknowledge that it is a cost-efficient place to stay in the center of the city with spacious rooms. However, particularly if you are a business traveler, it is worth noting the following:

1. Some of the rooms (I have stayed in quite a few of them over the last year or so as it is one of our company's mandated hotels at the moment), have serious noise pollution issues. The walls, and more importantly the front door of the apartments have surprisingly little noise insulation due to significant gaps between door and frame and what appears to be less substantial materials used than one typically finds in 3-star-and-above hotels. Clearly, this is a difficult issue for the hotel to resolve (it may cost a lot to do this across all rooms). If your room happens to be near to another room's main door, or near a service door, loud banging can be heard very clearly (with reverberations literally felt) until quite late at night. My last experience involved loud bangs every 15-30 minutes until about 2 a.m., and then intermittent loud bangs (of another door) from 6 a.m. Result = 4 hours of sleep at best. The bangs were so loud that earplugs didn't help much. If sleep is important for you, think very carefully before staying at this hotel.

2. The lifts in the main building are incredibly slow, it is not unusual to wait 5-7 minutes. This can be quite frustrating if you want to "pop downstairs" for something or if you are in a hurry.

3. Front receptionist service is quite slow. It can take 20 mins to check in even though the room has already been pre-booked (with all the individual's details supplied). This is an issue with other hotels, obviously, but I find it worse here than at many other hotels. I don't view this as a major/significant negative, but probably worth mentioning.

4. Breakfast is quite poor. Again, not a major negative as one can always eat outside the hotel, but perhaps partially explains the cheaper price.

So overall, while I understand that the price point is attractive to some, this does not compensate one for the negatives (which can be very bad if you get a room with real noise issues).

I did mention the noise issue to staff, but received no response, although they did seem to acknowledge the problem. I won't be staying at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Test the room for noise pollution before you settle in if you really have to stay here.

Dear J C,

Thank you for your recent stay with us. We appreciate your comments and it has been brought to the attention of the relevant departments.

In some areas, i.e. the lifts, we have explored ways of improving it. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done. However, in total we have 6 lifts, 3 each servicing the East and West Wing. Hope this does help.

For your comments 'loud bang', we are addressing this with the Engineering and Maintenance department to minimize this.

Once again, thank you for your feedback and we look forward to be at your service again on your next visit to Kuala Lumpur.

We stayed at the Fraser for 3 days, and felt very comfortable there. The apartments are spacious, clean and functionally furnished. We liked the little pool at the 18th floor, which you can use until 10 p.m. Breakfast buffet was ok for us. In the surroundings you find many supermarkets, bars and restaurants, and in a few minutes you can walk either to the Twin Towers or to Bukit Bintang.
Check in and Check out was fast and professional. This place offers really good value for your money.
