Checked in with friends.

Great service. Auntie and the rest of the staff is very accommodating. They speak english pretty well.

Facility is clean.

Very near to everyplace you'll need (central market, china town, merdeka square). More than worth the price.

My friend and I stayed for 1 night at the Explorers Guesthouse from our trip in Penang. We stayed in a 4-female dorm room that was comfortable. All our basic needs were taken care of: central location, clean toilets, wifi in the lobby, lockers, helpful staff, basic breakfast.

Maybe it's just because we stayed at a superb hostel back in Penang that we thought there was something lacking in this one. Perhaps it's the details: there's no reading lamp and personal socket per bunk, no slippers at the rest rooms so you had to walk barefoot if your slippers are in the lobby. There's no waste bin inside the toilets so if you're female and it's your time of the month, you had to throw your trash outside and can be a hassle. There's no refillable water so you had to keep on buying. The street right outside the hostel while central is also a bit seedy.

It was our last day in Malaysia so our stay became somewhat anticlimactic and a bit of a letdown. Other than that, the Explorers Guesthouse is still a pretty good base while in Kuala Lumpur.

Exellent guesthouse. We stayed longer than we first decided, because it is a great guesthouse ad well located. I was at first very ennoyed because there was no window in the room we had but it is very clean, nicely decorated, with air conditioning and the staff is very helpfull and nice - they were interested about Switzerland-. About the windowless room, it is maybe a good thing because the street is very noisy, full of polution and there are some mosquitos.

Room Tip: most of the rooms do not have a window

we stayed in this hostel for 3 nights and it beat our expectations.
the staff was really helpful and friendly, they didn't want to rip us off ( the water prices here were even cheaper than in some stores), the bathroom & toilets were always clean
we had a double room and although it had no windows - which made it really hard to wake up in the morning - it was neat. there was enough space for our backpacks, etc., the aircon was woking well plus there were no bed bugs ;)
the breakfast was - as advertised - simple, but that would not keep me from coming here again.
also, the atmosphere in the lobby was relaxing. there was a lot of space to sit around, eat, get to know people; there was always someone chilling around
another convenient thing was, that they have a self service "kitchen" (no cooking spot but plates and cutlery), so I could enjoy the mango I bought at the market here in the lobby.

in a nutshell, I would recommend staying in this hostel.

Stayed there for 8 days. The staff helped me with all my questions and gave me some tips. The place is super clean! The shared bathroom is also pretty decent! It's very near the station too!

The place is hard to find at first. Roamed around the streets in the middle of the night for ~30min looking for this guesthouse.
