“A Very Decent Hotel in the Heart of KL's Shopping Area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014 via mobile

Located right beside KL Sentral and the Monoral stations, you couldn't get any more central than this. Across the road, KL Sentral and the LRT and KTM stations; a stone's throw away, the KL monorail. So you could hop on either to get to KLCC, MidValley and beyond, OR to the Bukit Bintang shopping stretch.

The place is clean, no bed bugs at all, no funny smells, simple but decent breakfast. You can only book the hotel on line. Very affordable rates (ranged from RM120 to RM200 per night for a double during the period I was there).

Safety: granted, the back lanes of Brickfields are dodgy at night. But, the hotel is not at the back lanes. It's a tall building by itself (just tell the cabbie its' next to the YMCA at Brickfields). You can't miss it.

I'd recommend it for an affordable shopping trip to KL. Great food around too.

This hotel is near by monorail Tun Sambanthan station. For travelers this is very convenient to do sightseeing by using this mass transportation system. The room is clean and with steps away you are easy to find stores downstairs to buy things.

I chose this hotel because it was within walking distance from the train station. I made a super last minute reservation online, and even though the front desk had still not received notice of my stay when I got there they were so kind and stored my luggage while they cleared a room for me. They also gave me a map of the area and let me know what there was to see in the city. There was not much to do in the area, but the hotel is close to the subway so it was easy to get just about anywhere in the city.

The room was beautiful, clean and comfortable, and the included breakfast was great!

Hope you' ll find this useful! Stayed mid Nov 13 as a couple for 2 nights(booked through agoda.com), after staying 2 nights in Bukit Bintang area( my previous review) which will be referred as BB here onwards. The hotel is located near Tun Sambathan station(about 3 mins walk), 1 station before KL Sentral, and is within easy access of both. The location is good because KL Sentral offers easy access to all of KL, although transport is not at all expensive in KL to say the least. I had requested a higher floor, and was given the top floor(10th) and could see a train leaving KL Sentral from the window every few minutes. The room was neat and clean with an in-house safe, fridge, wifi and TV which was not the wall mounted LED type. The bed was slightjy on the softer side{a personal opinion) bathroom was clean, water pressure was lesser than BB. There is not much to do near Sentral as compared to BB, but we had a good nights rest. The staff do keep a smile which was nice. We had breakfast inclusive, which was a reasonable tasty spread including eggs, sausages, rice and noodles. etc. I only did not understand why on the first morning the noodles were kept warm and the rice wasn't and the next morning vice versa. Should have asked! The famous blind massage centre is the one directly opposite 7 eleven although there are 2-3 centres there within the same area. I wasn't able to accomodate a visit but it would be a good idea if staying here. I checked with the reception if I could get a late checkout, but was informed it is chargeable 80RM which I declined, as was not very essential. They do take a refundable deposit, which I personally do not endorse, because it will create an argument if you lose that receipt. We were allowed to keep our luggage in the luggage room after checking out, although the security staff did not allow us to use some space in the room to repack once we came back. Instead we were told to sit in the lobby and do what we needed to, allowing us to expose our baggage to one and all. Overall, the room of the hotel was good and the location is quiet compared to BB, but the closeness to Sentral is useful. It is a safe bet to stay here.

The Hotel Summer View is located close to KL Sentral station and also close to the Tun Sambanthan station on the Monorail line - very convenient for the shopping malls located at Imbi and Bukit Bintang - which are very good by the way, especially the Times Square centre at Imbi.

The reception staff are very accommodating and helpul.

The Hotel itself provides a good standard of accomodation and a decent breakfast - the only slight annoyance is that the bedroom windows don't shut out the street noice completely but all in all a good Hotel for the money.

Room Tip: A room at the rear of the hotel would probably be less noisy

Summer View hotel is less than a 5 minute walk from KL Sentral. You can catch a bus from the airport which will take you directly to Sentral. When you exit the station look up. You will see the hotel directly in front of you, recognizable by the name of the hotel written along the roof line. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is tasty. The staff are helpful, efficient and gracious. While Kuala Lumpur is not a great walking city you can walk to the main sights and Chinatown from the hotel. If you are not comfortable walking a great variety of public transit is available. There are lots of local restaurants serving tasty food.

We were attending a wedding in Brickfields KL so the Hotel Summer View was an excellent location, walking distance to the Hindu temple, KL Central for buses and trains, the monorail and Brickfields for Indian restaurants and shops. The staff at Hotel Summer View cannot do enough to make your stay enjoyable. The breakfast is included and is OK, but not great. The room is on the small side, but big enough so you aren't climbing over one another as you dress. No fridge. We left a bag of gear at the hotel for two weeks and spent another night there when we returned to KL. There's a 7/11, coffee shop very close and nice bar not far away. For the price this is a great, clean, comfortable and friendly hotel. Not only highly recommended, but we will stay there next time in KL
