“Not bad”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014 via mobile

Some interesting designs and information regarding the origins of the tribes and fabrics, however it wasn't very interactive and there was quite a lot to get through so hard to stay engaged by it all. Worth popping in if you are passing though

“Sad statement on the demise of Orang Asli”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

Beautiful building, yes. Lovely textiles and techniques, yes. A story of diversity of culture possibly the best in the world, yes. But the orang asli - original landowners and endemic tribes had just a single scant mention in it all..... With less than 10,000 in a population of 30m it was pitiful.

“A multi-diverse beauty in KL.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2014

A fellow artist took me here as part of her journey in Malaysia. I was taken aback by the beauty of this building and its collection. The museum definitely captured the multi-diversed composition of Malaysia and in a way, the textiles (and costumes) that are prevalent in SE Asia - the collection of textiles/costumes encapsulate the rich diversity, vibrant color, the intricate texture of the weaving and interweaving of the SE Asian culture. This is a must visit - it is FREE and it is near Chinatown (Jalan Petaling).

“Great building and displays”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

I can't give this place a glowing review, but only because it's not really my thing. The building is gorgeous and the displays give you a tremendous amount of information about Malaysian textiles. If this is a subject you find interesting, it's definitely a place to stop.

“National Textiles Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

Having been born and bred in Kuala Lumpur, it was my first visit to the National Textiles Museum. What impressed me most is that entry is free and the exhibits are attractive, informative and educational. Malaysia is a multiracial country and all the costumes and textiles of the different races, cultures and traditions are exhibited. The Museum is spacious, clean and cool. Within the Museum is a section on the historical buildings of Kuala Lumpur and some other towns of Malaysia. The buildings were all designed by a British Architect, Mr. A.B. Hubback, around 100 years ago. Do visit the Museum and I am sure you wlll not be disappointed.
