“Great hotel, very high quality if a little traditional”
Reviewed 3 August 2013 via mobile

This is on the whole a marvellous hotel. As you'd expect from a JW in a big capital city like KL, it's grand and you lack nothing. Staff are excellent, room was very nice, if a little "old school" ie not modern, but still very pleasant.

Very nice club room for breakfast, drinks etc if you have a Marriott Platinum card.

Didn't use the pool, spa etc but looks very nice.

I get free wifi with my Marriott card, but I think it might be free in the public areas anyway, not sure. However, while the wifi is fast in the public area it felt like dial-up in the room; incredibly slow, and unacceptable in a place as wired as KL is generally. Needs improvement.

The hotel is attached to a huge, multi-level, very high-end shopping mall if you're into your designer labels.

Best feature of the hotel, but also the strangest, is the restaurant complex below the ground floor. Fantastic selection of 13 restaurants (highly recommend the Vietnamese one - superb food, despite the gaudy images on the menu - do yourself a favour guys, get yourselves some professional photos done) plus bars, tea shop etc. The layout, though, is really strange compared to the rest of the hotel - very odd, but attractive in a strange way. Difficult to describe but is an architectural mish-mash of rustic and plush, wood and stone, dark corners and crazy steps and floor surfaces, interesting lighting everywhere. The weirdest thing of all is one of the bathrooms. I think there are two, and one is more traditional than the other. That one, the strange one, though, is really worth checking out for yourself and is like nothing I've ever been in (I can only speak for the men's). It's like a cave, very dimly lit, with stone walls, maze-like corridors and a water system for washing your hands where there's a guy who pumps the water from a big, wooden overhead system that looks like something from a medieval well... In a dungeon! Come to think of it, a dungeon must have been the inspiration. One of the most curious (but weirdly engaging) visits to a hotel toilet I've ever had. Can't quite believe I'm saying this in a hotel review, but check it out! (Make sure you find the right one). I'm going to search through other reviews for mention of this place, because it really is something!

All in all this hotel is very highly recommended.

Pleasant surprise in the heart of KL. Owned under license from Marriott by the Malaysian conglomerate YTL that also owns the adjoining Ritz-Carlton.
Positives: great location for business & shopping, gracious staff, large rooms with ~12 foot ceilings on the Club Floor, very attractive, spacious Club lounge, myriad of restaurants, taxis always available.
Negative: minimal places to sit in the lobby area. All chairs & couches were being used and could not find a place to sit for an informal business meeting with 3 others. Fortunately, was able to use the Club lounge for the meeting.
Summary: would rate 5-star except it is next to the Ritz-Carlton which is clearly a 5-star.

Room Tip: Club floor & Club lounge worth the extra $$$

Currently staying in the hotel. This has to be one of the best located hotel in KL, right in the middle of the action -shopping, dining, etc. However, even this is exceeded by the excellent service, the best executive lounge. Oh yea, we used the spa which was also very good.

My only complaint is that I found the pillow to be most uncomfortable.

Room Tip: You can walk all the way from across the street "indoor"to the Petronas twin tower thru th...

I find this hotel ideal for business and pleasure. It's located at the center of the business area, near our office. Restaurants and malls are also in proximity. I stayed in the Business Lounge floor and it was a comfortable place to hold meetings, have quick snacks, etc.
I also liked the spacious room and bathroom amenities. The selection of restaurants at the basement were also a big plus. Staff were always greeting me, and everyone was very helpful, informative, and very efficient.

I stayed here for Business in July.
The hotel was very busy with coach parties and as such it was rather hectic, the reception area in particular.

There are 10+ restuarants in the basement level and catered for every palette.

The hotels afforded great access to the busy city centre shopping Malls and street vendors which made for interesting walks on the evening to soak in the sights and generally just people watch. There are plenty of ladies pushing 'foot massages' but once you let them know you a not interested they leave you alone. I am a world traveller and didn't feel threatened one bit, it just how it is in KL. Speaking to my local hosts however, they did advise to carry the minimum on an evening, leave your valuables in the Safe to deter and quick snatch from opportunistic thieves. I am not try to scare anyone off here, it's an absorbing city to visit, well worth it. I adjust saying be careful. Overall I can recommend this hotel largely because I feel it is in an Excelent location.

I cannot say one bad thing about this hotel. We stayed 2 nights on points. Although this was a free stay we got a room on a high floor with a view, although only partly, on the Petronas towers. Each and everyone of the employees were very feiendly and helpful. All our questions got a swift answer and solution. Room very much ok. Location of the hotel is good. Somewhat further from public transportation (Monorail station Bukit Bintang is a 10min walk), close to different shopping malls as well as lots of restaurants nearby. (Choice of upscale as well as simple places - Jalan Alor is a 15min walk away)
Comimg/Going from/to the airport you could pick the Klia express and switch to the monorail if you have limited luggage. (Transfer at KL sentral involves some walking and stairs outside)

Went and stay a second time, as was attending conference arriving just on time of opening - with arrangement it was an hotel driver, breeze easy check-in in room , good amenities. Room was very quiet , however spent there not much time, as was roaming around . Abundance of shopping malls around - prices didn't impress much (as well trading seems reached is bottom), but in any case purchase few nice gifts. Recommend downstairs korean restaurant and village bar (my favorite mojito recipe, by the way price of beer is reasonable) - enjoying every time visit KL.
Good choice of food stalls - one is just near entry to Lot 10, as well as food court in Pavillion. Walking distance to Petronas towers - around 20-30 min.
