This is by far one of the best locations in the city, it is a stones throw from The Petronas Towers, we had a late night flight and we checked out but the staff allowed us to use the facilities, spa pool etc.......lunch at the bar is delicious! Room facilities are fantastic

Location is superb - KLCC is literally at your doorstep. Bed is extremely comfortable, well-furnished and has a stunning view.

Our last stay at the Mandarin KL definitely didn’t live up to our expectations, I am happy to report a vast improvement. Check in was fast and efficient and the renovations downstairs have made a huge improvement. The gym and pool facilities are excellent as were all the staff.
The construction of the PETRONAS walkway enabling an air conditioned walk between the KLCC and the Pavilion shopping centre reinforces this hotel’s position as the best location in KL. It’s right next door to the PETRONAS Towers which has a Metro station underneath for exploring further afield and overlooks the KLCC Park complete with 1.3km jogging track if you’re feeling energetic.
The only thing that I could fault the hotel on was that the bathrooms are starting to show their age however I understand a renovation for the guest rooms isn’t too far away.
Congratulations to the management and staff we will definitely be back.

We stayed at Mandarin Oriental KL as a stopover on our way back to Australia from Europe. We arrived early in the morning but were immediately checked-in and upgraded to a Petronas view room. This hotel is exactly what a jet-lagged traveller needs. Beautiful room, luxuriously soft bed and friendly service. The location is fantastic, just opposite KLCC Suria shopping centre. The pool area is also a fantastic place to spend a lazy day, with friendly and efficient pool attendants. A great hotel.

Without doubt - the best hotel in KL. From the moment you walk in, you know you are somewhere special. Stunningly beautiful hotel.

Upgrading to a suite is worth every penny. Ask for a corner room for stunning views of the Petronas Towers. The executive lounge is well worth visiting for the views.

The pool, looking out to the botanical gardens is breathtaking

I've stayed in several of the luxury hotels in KL and this is by far and away the best.

My wife and I visited KL for the first time over a long-weekend recently and I was deciding between the Mandarin Oriental and the Ritz-Carlton. Since we've never been, we thought (based on what we read online and looking at the map) the Mandarin's location may be better since it was attached to the mall and Petronas Towers. Given both hotels were similarly priced, we chose the Mandarin based on its location. As first time tourists, that was probably not the right decision. Unfortunately, this Mandarin does not even come close to what you would typically expect from a real Mandarin Oriental globally.

High-level thoughts:

Room - gross. Very dated, nasty caulking in the bathroom, in need of a renovation probably 20 years ago. Thin walls and sound from rooms next door, especially in the hallway, is very clear inside the room. We may as well not have any doors nor walls since the sound was the same. Bed was comfortable enough but again, old everything.

Service - not great, elitist, snobby (especially the concierge). Impression was consistent with front desk staff at both check-in and check-out. Not very helpful, not friendly and not welcoming. Concierge was even worse. As one example, when we asked for recommendations for "local" experiences such as restaurants and sights, the concierge's response was "...well, our Mandarin Oriental customers typically do not prefer to do that, they would prefer to go to XYZ instead...". What kind of answer was that? Just terrible.

Fitness Center / Pool - excellent. Great fitness facility, very large, great equipment, clean and fairly updated. Very large infinity pool with good pool-side service, good views. No complaints in this department at all.

Location - okay but not as convenient as the other hotels on the main "strip" of restaurants, shops, etc. This is where the Ritz, JW Marriott, etc., are located. Maybe a 20 min walk away from the Mandarin.

Overall, we were not impressed based on what we expected from a Mandarin Oriental. It's just too old (but not in a nice way) - everything from entrance, to elevators, to hallways, to room, etc. If compared to a 2-star hotel, sure it would have been fine. But on a relative basis, this particular hotel does not compare to other 5-star properties in KL.

My wife and I loved KL and would certainly revisit, but next time we'll likely select the Ritz-Carlton or JW Marriott instead (both are much nicer and in better locations, for similar prices)

Room Tip: If you must stay here, then perhaps try to ask for a corner room away from elevators so it's qui...

Wow what luxury and the views from the 30th floor spectacular.

The room was spacious with everything you could need, including a full office desk well stocked, fresh fruit daily and palace-like luxury.

The service was astounding, while working at 3am reception organised documents to be scanned into digital form. Late night meals were also incredible.

Perfect potion to public transport, The Petrona towers , Convention centre and more.

Nothing detracted from this hotel in any way.

Room Tip: 30th floor worked well form me
