“Excellent location and service”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

The Melia Kuala Lumpur is located directly across the street from the mega-shopping mall Berjaya Times Square and the Imbi monorail station. Bukit Bintang is a few minutes' walk away, as are Plaza Low Yat and several other shopping and transport opportunities. In other words, the location is perfect for a first visit to KL. It is worth upgrading to a level above standard, as this will provide a higher floor with a view, and a larger room. The rooms are perfectly comfortable, although some may consider the fittings (bathroom) to be slightly dated, they are more than adequate, clean and well-serviced.
Breakfast is a generous and varied buffet, and is worth including in the overnight.
Special points are to be awarded for service, as I found it particularly courteous and attentive, with small attentions always welcome and never intrusive. Overall, this hotel is to be recommended for anyone searching for a hotel with the advantages of a large chain establishment, yet with a good sense of hospitality, very comfortable and with excellent value for money. This can be compared to a 3-1/2 star to 4 star hotel in Europe, though with large rooms and an ideal location. This hotel would be suited to all sorts of travellers, from solo to families, although perhaps it is not the most romantic of hotels, would be perfectly fine for couples and for city- or shopping-trips.
A very good choice.

Room Tip: Try and get above the 10th floor with a Bukit Bintang view for a glimpse of the Petronas towers

My husband and I stayed at Melia for 3 nights with friends. We enjoyed the central location, near to great shopping centres and great places to eat, as well as a short walk to Jalan Alor and Chankat bars, and Imbi monorail station. We had enjoyable daily swims and staff were friendly. Rooms were a bit tired looking, and wifi bot available in normal rooms, only in lounge or corridors. Our room had wired internet, but no LAN cable provided unlike other hotels! Lobby "Limousine" service was helpful.

Overall, was a comfortable stay.

Well, cant complain about the location! but rooms looked little run down to me. Just Opposite to Times Square on the famous Tourist Hub. Imbi station is walking distance, so is Pavillion, KLCC etc if you are ready to walk for 10 to 20 mins. Hotel is not really 4/5 star property but its value for money. Was very surprised to find out no hand shower in the washroom while MY is a muslim place, so Muslim Travellers take note if you know what I mean :). Overall, it was a ok stay.

My fiancé and I stay at the Melia in December 2013. Overall this is a well priced hotel and Awesome location! We stayed in a standard guest room on level 11 with a King Bed - Daily breakfast was included in the overall price.
Pros:
1 Very good location - opposite times square shopping centre and walking distance to other major shopping centres.
2 Amazing buffet breakfast in the morning - there is a dedicated chef making omelettes to order which was a fresh change. Wait staff and kitchen staff were very attentive and professional - Job well done!!
3. Lobby staff seemed friendly most of the time - by no means outstanding - but professional and helpful as to be expected.
3 Reasonable toiletries provided each day by house keeping
4 We ordered room service 2 night in a row and thoroughly enjoyed our meals whilst watching the cable movies.
5 Their turn down service was a nice touch.

Cons
1 The first thing we noticed about this room is how worn and tired it is. This hotel is definitely in need of a make-over/modernisation. This goes for the hallways to the room and the lobby. Im not overly fussy but when wall paper is starting to peel from the walls, their is cracks in the bathroom tiles (needed re grouting) and the room smells like cigarette smoke (after specifically asking for non-smoking) it is not ideal. I believe however that the hotel is undergoing a refurbishment in the near future - so hopefully things will improve!
2 The swimming pool is small and the water temperature is too cold. I would expect the pool temperature to be cool given the climate - but not cold enough to take my breathe away when entering and make my man-hood go north.
3 Although we got a high level room (level 11) you could still hear street traffic clearly - it was very noisy at night!
4 The beds in this place are rock solid hard - not the most comfortable nights sleep i've ever had!
5 No free wifi in the room
Overall a reasonable hotel - perhaps I would try another hotel next time.

Big room - a bit old though. Nice breakfast very varied. Conveniently located to all major malls. Wifi is not free for certain room type. Hear the monorail if you are on the lower floors. Staff is helpful.

Very accessible as its located beside Imbi LRT and opposite Berjaya Times Square KL. Friendly and helpful staffs and rendered help when needed. Room was above expectation. 24hrs foodstall nearby (1min walk)

Room Tip: Higher floors to avoid getting disturbed by the vehicular noises if your room is facing the road.
