“Great Hotel with tower views”
Reviewed 10 September 2012

Went to this this hotel last year and loved it! The view of the tower is superb at night time. It is v close to the metro link and there is a Starbucks or 711 round the corner for breakfast. There isn't much to do in the immediate vicinity, but its a great base to explore from. The hotel has some great facilities, the best of which is the spa! I enjoyed this place so much I came back for another stay at the end of my 2 weeks...

Our room was not high enough to avoid the road noise. It was one of the noisiest rooms I have stayed in. Poor sleep quality here. The pool was nice, breakfast sumptuous, staff courteous. Free wifi only in public areas otherwise expensive, about $15 for 24 hours

Room Tip: The higher up the better I would tihink

This is the 3rd time in 9 years I stayed in this hotel.

My first stay in 2003 was more than excellent. It was an outstanding experience and I really enjoyed staying in this hotel, at the time it was "Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur, A Luxury Collection Hotel". Employees where all great and with a very high luxury attitude.

My second stay was in 2008 and was very good. At that time the KL Monorail opens and it was more easy to go to the city.

My last stay (August 2012) was ok, but nothing more. Hotel employees become arrogant, when asking something even basic you feel like disturbing. There is a very big construction work (deconstruction to be honest) right in front of the hotel, which is very noisy from early morning until very late evening. During check-in I didn’t get an upgrade as SPG gold member, but the first room right next to the elevator with the best view to construction site (with the worst noise). After the first night, I asked to change to another room, which was done immediately.

Kuala Lumpur City development is at the other side of the city, you may feel decentered in this hotel, but you can use the monorail to go to the city easily.

Stayed here in May and it was an excellent choice. Tram just 5mins walk and you can be in the Bintang area or you can take the underground which is about 10mins walk. We got a room with a beautiful view of the Petronas Tower, beautiful at night with all the lights. Again as SPG free wife. Breakfast at the Clubroom was ok, at least you dont need to queue. Very helpful frontliners. Will stay here again for sure.

We stayed at the Sheraton Imperial KL for one night only.
We were traveling with our 2 children. We had booked 2 deluxe twin tower view rooms but on our arrival we were upgraded to Club Level, which was very nice.
Rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Bathroom are huge with separate shower. Rooms are what you expect from a 5 star hotel, so no disappointment on that side. We found a bit strange though that you have to pay for wifi in a club room!! 35RM per day.
The swimming pool area needs a serious upgrade. First, the pool is much smaller than on the hotel picture (probably due to the angle of picture) and second, it looks extremely tired. Jacuzzi was not working properly and some tiles were broken. There was no personnel around when we went even though there is a pool bar! We stayed for an hour and did not see any one...
I guess these facilities are ok if you only sleep one night but if you want to stay longer and are traveling with kids you might consider another hotel (Renaissance is 100m from Sheraton)
The hotel is very close to the twin towers and you should be able to reach by walking 10/15 mins, but I would not advise it at the moment as there are many construction sites on the way. Taxi to KLCC would cost 6RM for standard (red taxis) and 12RM for luxurious(blue ones) and will take you 3 mins.
There is also a skytrain station 50m from the hotel (LRT-Medan Tuanku). You will have to make one change if you want to go to KLCC.
Regarding food, we ate at Essence on our arrival and the buffet was very good with western and asian delicacies. We did not eat at the italian restaurant as it was closed (closed on Sundays and Saturday for lunch).
Club lounge was quite good. They offer bites and drinks from 5pm to 8:30pm. In fact, they offer wine/beer/soft drinks and the cocktail of the day. They do not offer a cocktail card as in most of hotels, so you might be disappointed by limited choice.
Service was very attentive all through our stay.
In conclusion, we will be back because of the good value but we would like the management to seriously consider renovating soon the pool/jacuzzi area as it does not do justice to the quality of the hotel and personnel working there.

Room Tip: Choose twin towers view.

Excellent location for getting around the city, just a minute or 2 to the monorail which we caught from Sentra. But be warned if travelling with luggage there are (or were) no working escalators at either station and there are a lot of stairs to lug cases up and down. The hotel also provides a free shuttle bus to various points of interest around the city.
We stayed in a Club room, giving us access to the Executive Lounge with its free wifi (and workstations), all day delicious coffee, tea and soft drinks plus evening drinks and snacks. Also found it a lovely environment for meeting fellow travellers. Our being able to use this facility on our last day between checking out and our 10pm flight was a real bonus. Well worth the extra dollars.
Our room was spacious, luxuriously appointed, spotlessly clean and with the best bed we have ever slept in.
Breakfast was amazing - so many choices!
Pool was beautiful - just cool enough to be refreshing and plenty of comfy lounges.
Every staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming and attentive without ever being intrusive.
Can't fault our stay in any way.

Room Tip: Others have mentioned night club noise so we requested a quiet room. I'm a poor sleeper so when...
