Reviewed 18 June 2008

My family of two adults and two kids stayed on 13th June for three nights. I booked a double beds with extra bed (triple). The room was spacious and clean.
I had three breakfast vouchers per day and the staff allowed whole family to dine without paying for the extra kids. she considered two kids equal one adult. Thank you.

1. Great location. Good hawker food within 5 min walking distance.

We stayed in this hotel for six nights, and found everything to our satisfaction. Only problem was that we asked for a no-smoking room but were given a smoking floor. The staff were wonderful, very helpfull for directions and arranging tours. The room was huge and so was the bed. Would stay here again if I ever return to Kuala Lumpur.

Stayed here the night after staying in its sister hotel Royale Bintang Damansara. We liked the room so much that we didn't think twice to book this hotel when we needed to extend a night.

We went there at 3pm and our room wasn't ready. They wanted to give us a room to drop our luggage while they cleaned up but it was really smelly. We asked for a change. The room that we got was old and tired looking. It was a far cry from the other Royale Bintang.

The reception was always smokey. Very bad ventilation. Breakfast was so-so

Location was alright. Rather near some malls. Low Yat Plaza is for IT stuff in case you're interested and it's just behind the hotel.

Wife and I stayed there for 6 nights last month, overall disapointed, I booked over 4 months ago, asking for a non smoking room as I suffer from Asthma, we did not get one.
The room we got had a connecting door to the next room and you could hear every sound from that room. In fact twice in the early hours of the morning I had to bang on the door and ask for there tv to be turned down. But the worst came on our last night, I awoke around midnight to the smell of smoke, only to find there was a group next door who must have all been smokers and the smoke was coming in under the door. I had to put a towel at the bottom of the door to stop it.
This spoilt what had been a good stay at this hotel, breakfast was good.
The seafood bbq on fri. night was the best I have seen and was very cheap.
Do not stay in room 1501 if you want a quiet time.

Although this is an aging luxury hotel, the rooms appear to have been recently refurbished and smartly appointed. As with most big hotels, the service is a bit impersonal. Due to some mix-up at the hotel or the online travel agency, they were unable to find my reservation, but they gave me a room anyhow.

I was assigned non-smoking floor 13. This hotel may not be for the superstitious type, as it has both floors 4 and 13.

Breakfast is a huge spread of Western and local dishes, and included an omelet and roti chef. There should have been a better selection of fruits for a buffet of its size, though--as I recall, there was only pineapple and watermelon. There was always a wait ranging from 2-10 minutes, although the hotel may have been near capacity due to a local school holiday.

The location is convenient to the nearby hawker stalls (Jalon Alor), shopping malls, monorail stations (MRT), and presumably spa/massage places (if the touts are any indication).

My wife and me stayed ther for 2 nights with the main intention to visit KL. I booked online and requested high floor, non-smoker. Upon arrival, the Front Desk employee was very friendly and precised without being asked that our room was on the highest non-smoking floor available, which comforted me in my belief that my requests were well registered.
The room was comfortable and clean, and even though the hotel is located directly on Bukit Bintang, it was quiet.
The location of the hotel is great. You can find loads of shops and food stalls around, serving good (and very cheap) local food. The Monorail station is just a few minutes walk away, which is very convenient. From there you can reach almost every part of the city.
The second day we asked the concierge to arrange for a cab to take us to Batu Caves, a great cave outside KL, and a holy place for Hindus. The price stated by the concierge was way too high (80 Ringitts - Approx 25 US$). We were lucky and found a cab that accepted to take us on the meter and paid some 15 Ringitts (less than 5 US$) - that was obviously a try to take advantage of tourists.
Our check-out experience was sadly not as good. Our special promotion rate offered a late check-out at 3pm. Suddenly the hotel wanted to charge us for this though. Stupidly, I didn't think of printing out the website with the special promotion. The staff was obviously not aware of this offer. After arguing for 15 minutes, the staff reluctantly said they would do us a favour and let us check-out at 3pm free-of-charge. Thanks!
The breakfast is good without being great. Choice is catering to many nationalities of tourists.
Tipp: take advantage of the cheap and good massage places in the vicinity to get yourself a session of Reflexologie. Your feet will thank you for this.
