I stayed in the renaissance hotel as a part of my tour arranged by Indochina odyssey tours. Generally speaking, it is a good choice with very good location. It just needs ten minutes walk to klcc. I stayed at the east wing which is a four star wing. The room is a little old but fine.

Let's start with the positives. I found the location of the hotel to be great - just a short walk from the twin towers and across the road from the monorail station which is super cheap and super easy to use. Another pro is the breakfast which was included in our deal. There was a wide spread of western and asian choices (no bacon though). The service at breakfast was terrible as was the coffee but you win some you lose some.
The big big cons were the slimy pool. Especially around the pool bar. Someone please get these guys a pool cleaner! Another con was the mould and peeling wallpaper in the bathroom. But the massive con were the swipe cards to access the elevator and your room. You had to swipe a dozen times and hold your tongue in a certain position to get it to work properly. And it wasn't just us, every time we were in the elevator people were struggling. Also, our non smoking room had a strong scent of cigarettes.
If you're not going to be sending much time at the hotel and get a good deal then stay, otherwise there are plenty of other options to choose from

Thank you for your review and feedback concerning your recent stay with us. First of all, please allow us to express our sincere apologies for the inconvenience that you had experienced whilst staying with us. I can assure you that it is not the service standards for which we aspire to provide to our guests. We have shared your feedback with our owner and shareholders concerning the hotel product and pleased to let you know that there are plans in place to upgrade and renovate the hotel.

We have taken note of your comments regarding the shortfalls in service delivery of our Associates in the Restaurant and your feedback is invaluable and will help us to address issues. You can be rest assured that appropriate training and counseling will be conducted to improve our service delivery towards guests. I am truly sorry for the frustration you had with the elevator and room key card issues during your stay as the hotel encountered some software programming malfunction which affected the entire hotel. However, this has now been rectified.

Your business is important to us and once again, we are sorry for not being able to meert your expectations on this occasion and sincerely hope you will give us another opportunity to be of service to you and make it right for your next stay.

Yours sincerely,

Hotel is clean, rooms are comfortable but the shower could use update. I liked the breakfast but little bit too much asian food to my liking. But the ice cream win me over:)Hotel is 5 mins from twin towers and I was lucky to have just the view..The hotel is bit confusing with east and other wings, but if u get lost u can admire lovely little shops or details of the ground floor;)

When I walked in to the lobby, I was greeted by a front office staff by the name of Sina. It was around 10.30am but Sina was kind enough to find us 2 rooms and met what we requested. She was a very helpful staff with a kind smile.
Besides Sina, all other front office staff was very courteous. They apologized sincerely to the guests for having waited when check in.
We stayed in the West Wing. The rooms are big enough but it's a bit old. The carpet needs to be changed though to remove the carpet smell. the aircond needs to be serviced or changed because they are a bit noisy.
Other than that, room service is quick, breakfast spread is good, buffet dinner at Vogue cafe is fabulous.
When we checked out, the manager on duty was kind enough to give my girl a set of girl's stationery. We were already seated in the taxi and he came over just in time and said, "Sorry, i forgot to give your boy a set too". The stationery set was not a big deal but the kind gesture and the attention he gave towards each of his customers really makes a difference. I forgot to ask his name but we stayed there from June 4-6, 2014.
All in all, all the staff working there are very friendly, from the front desk to all dining areas and even room service. They never fail to greet you each time. It was a good experience. We will come back again.

Room Tip: Just ask the front desk people they are of big help or look for Sina. Thanks Sina.

Good hotel in terms of rooms, but old design.. Not many Vegetarian varieties in terms of food. There are 2 wings and most of the time it's confusing. To access the hotel is difficult, as it's located at the intersection between 2 key roads in KL. No shops to purchase anything in case if u missed to bring something.. You need to walk till the twin towers, which is 25min walk away from the facility.

Dear karthikeyan S

Greetings from Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel!

Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.

We have taken note of your comments regarding the lack of Vegetarian menu and our Executive Chef will look into it.

As for the location, we are strategically located as we are only about 10 minutes within walking distance to the Twin Towers and across our hotel, there is a monorial station which will only takes 5 minutes with 2 stops to Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur’s most trendy and busiest shopping clusters in the city.

For the convenience of our guests, we do have an in-house convenient store located on the Lobby Level.

Thank you once again for your review and we look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back to the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel.

Best Regards

We were in KL for 2 nights on 2nd and 3rd June, enroute to Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam. The hotel is divided into East and West Wings. We were dropped off by the taxi from the airport at the East Wing and we approached the reception. We had mislaid our hotel voucher and explained to reception of this. The gentleman at reception took our details and checked their system and informed us that our rooms are booked and paid for so they did not need the voucher so it was a relief. We were booked onto the East Wing however, they gave us a free upgrade to Executive suite on the West Wing which was nice. The room was really roomy and nice with a triple size bed, ensuite bathroom with a separate shower cubicle and a sofa and chair.

The reception in the West Wing did not appear to be helpful when we asked where we could get some food, and they directed us to the bar area, which was not what we wanted. We found our own way to one of the restaurants on the West Wing, and there is another restaurant in the East Wing. The breakfast was generally good, a combination of continental with local Malaysian congee and nasi lemak, to choose from.

We did not sample the evening buffet in the restaurant as we dined out with our friends from KL in the evenings.

We left the hotel in the crack of dawn at 5.30 am to catch our flight to Ho Chi Minh city. The lasting impression of the Renaissance is that it is a grand looking hotel with its marbled floor foyer, regal decor with an impressive stair case in the East Wing. There are a handful of shops in the hotel. Somehow, the front of house staff lack customer service and perhaps could be more friendly and serve clients with a smile and to exude warmth.

When compared with Miri Marriott Hotel and Resort which we had stayed for a week and had a very good service before arriving in KL, we were slightly disappointed with the Renaissance Hotel in KL. It could have been a really good hotel if the staff can be more customer focus.

We may stay in the Renaissance Hotel if the service improves further and we will be watching the reviews on Tripadvisor for a progress report.

The free upgrade was a good touch, and for that reason, the front of house did get this right on this instance. Thank you for that.

Just about average when it come to F&B Service...
They don't have digital weighing machines and bath gowns in the rooms, something that's hygienic standards these days...
I missed a good coffee, and the break-fast has a tendency of getting over early...
