“Comfortable Hotel with Pleasant Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 October 2012

We stayed in this hotel for one night. They even upgraded our room to honeymoon suite for free. Walking distance to the twin tower. Friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast buffet could be improved more as the choices are too plain.

This hotel is in a great central location, very close to petronas towers, which was very handy for New Years Eve! We stayed in deluxe room with direct pool access with a honeymoon deal. Room was adequate size for 2 people, bed was large and comfortable and the private balcony and direct pool access was fantastic. Bathroom was ok, a little tired looking and a bit cramped. We had a small plumbing leak on the last night, nothing that made us move, seeing we were checking at the next morning, we reported it at check out with no problems. Buffet breakfast had a wide selection foods, although they did struggle at times to keep food up with the big crowd. Staff were overall pleasant and helpful. Used the spa services, wonderful massage and nice staff.

oh my god! what is up with the people at the front desk? so distant and rude that i didn't feel like even checking in. the room is definitely not worth the money we shelled out. if i do come to kl again, i will probably not be staying here again, that is for sure.

on the other hand, the location could not be better. i believe that is a huge plus. klcc station located under the avenue k building is literally a stone's throw from the hotel; same goes for suria mall/petronas towers.

Corus Hotel is great. I have stayed here a couple of times, either with my family or alone on business. I'm very lucky to be able to book a room in my latest one-night stay in a Deluxe Room that comes with complimentary fast broadband and breakfast for 2 persons through a hotel rooms wholesaler. I don't know why it's always full. Probably, many foreign travel agents book this hotel for their travel party. In a nutshell, Corus Hotel is for you if:

1. You don't mind that the hotel is not that new (Yes, the rooms and hallway, etc., are under face lifts and renovation. My wife and I love the simple face lift in the room we have had just stayed: 1005.

2. You like to take a short stroll to the nearby the massive Suria KLCC building that houses the Petronas Twin Towers. Here, you are in for a spell-binding shopping spree of different tastes and budget. You will also find so much food at the food courts. A very large book Japanese food store stocking libraries upon libraries of books galore! And more.

3. You want to move to the peripheries or the other part of the Kuala Lumpur city. Take the LRT either from KLCC (Exit the hotel and walk right to Avenue K and to the station beneath accessible by elevators) or the Ampang Park Stations (Exit the hotel and walk left to the station where you can see some fast food outlets). These stations are part of the Putra LRT network which you can connect to the other LRT networks.

4. You want to hail a cheaper street taxi (white and red) that uses the meter for your journey anywhere.

5. You want to visit many of the Foreign Embassies and missions within the Ampang vicinity. I stayed here this time primarily because of this.

6. You like to be offered a 50% discount off the hotel Buffet Lunch.

7. You like to just cross the road using the overhead pedestrian bridge from the hotel to get your Mamak (Indian Muslim) food fix.

Happy hotel hunting!

Room Tip: The facelifted deluxe room that I stayed in is good. Very spacious, spunky clean, powerful water flo...

One may be interested to know on how to get here from the Airport. We arrived at KL Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT). We bought tickets for shuttle bus and train costing RM 12.50 each person at the booth. Ticket separate for bus and train. The shuttle bus departed from LCCT to Salak Tinggi station where we transferred to the train going to KL Sentral. At KL Sentral, we bought train tickets at RM 1.60 per person going to KLCC station i.e. Kelana Jaya (Putra) Line. Upon arrival at KLCC station, we exited at Jalan Ampang where we walked for a few minutes and we were already at Corus Hotel. We were fortunate to be billeted at the 2nd floor where there is a back door to the lanai and swimming pool. We had a good night sleep during our 3 nights stay. It has complimentary water, coffee, tea, sugar and creamer. It has also electric kettle and hot/cold shower. The electrical (outlet)socket is that of a "Type G" British BS_1363 type. So you need a travel plug adapter in order to plug in if your appliance's plug doesn't match the shape of this socket. The hotel staff was kind enough to lend me one which I returned upon checking out. What is also good with this hotel is that you can pay upon checking out. No deposit required. The KLCC station (LRT), KLCC Suria and Petronas Twin Towers are just a few blocks away from the hotel. Very near indeed. My son and I had a pleasant stay at the hotel.

The main advantage of this hotel is its location. It's close to Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC) which is about 10 minutes walk away. Staff are polite but lack of friendliness/warmth. Lifts are old. Room is below expectation - I expect a more modern looking one. Breakfast is good. I love the coffee best - in fact better than most hotels I ever stayed.

Great location , close to Petronas Towers. Very impressive foyer , and lovely restaurant with plentiful breakfast and courteous staff.
The rooms however were a huge disappointment . Vey dated , plain and NOTHING in the bar fridge. Front desk staff were efficient , but distant . Not the best hotel experience we've ever had for the price range - it was advertised as a 4 star hotel but was a bit disappointing - however - great location.
