“Not worth to live here”
Reviewed 5 June 2013

I live here recently. Service is quite okay. But the n find a more better one.equitment is very poor. Televisyen cannot be watch. Toilet is dirty, even the air conditioner also got problem. The room is small and uncomfortable. The most angry things is that they charge me the soft drinks RM 11.90 but i didnt drink it or touch it. The hotel is quite old and they didnt do renovation to improve the room quality. They use the magnet as the key of the room. But they seldom change the quality. I keep cannot open my door and i need to go to the counter and ask for several times. Not worth to stay in that hotel. Please think clearly. You can find a better place.

Twice a year I travelled to KL as my annual holidays for the last 6 years I stayed in this hotel because of it ideal location. However as years go by some of the staff lack courtesy and considerations to the requested basic needs of the clients. Most of the staff are non locals perhaps lacking the customary politeness and welcoming attitude of most Malaysians.
It is an effort to even request for an extra pillows with invalid excuses due to availability of same. Most untrue as I have sighted heaps of pillows kept in the spare rooms. As they finally relented to my repeated requests, as usual the middle age lady house keeper was most reluctant to assist in an efficient manner as she was heading for her lunch ?? And it's rude to speak in their native tongue blatantly in front of the customers.

Similar experience with the the other same young lady usually on duty late shift last June 2012 and this month of December 2012, despite clear verbal and written communication to contact me via room service telephone with the arrival of the cab driver to pick me up to the airport. Thus both cab driver and client was kept waiting with no communication between us. I need to take the initiative to be in touch with cab driver.

Well enough is enough! Future trips to KL, I would be a fool to step in Cardogan Hotel. Stay clear of this hotel. The only helpful, supportive lady is a local Malaysian. Unfortunately a few staff lack of positive attitude spoils it all. A customers satisfaction box survey would certainly improve the image of this hotel.

Cardogan hotel has a very affordable rate, and at first arrival, as predicted, the low rate was actually the general impression that the hotel quality is far from less.

When we checked in, we found that the lobby was fairly small yet quite comfortable. However when we first entered the room, I find the room have a strong damp smell, pretty much because the room doesn't have a diricet sunlight or at least a window. Air circulation was terrible, air conditioner is at minimum performance and the size of the room is small.

The room should be okay if you are a backpacker with a minimum budget, however don't expect much. If u think of a place to sleep and get up in the morning to travel around, and have the same routine day in day out, then maybe you can consider Cardogan as a place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for room that at least have window, it is worth it to pay a bit more...

The room was basic and not much to look at, but was very comfortable. The staff were always willing to assist and we had a pleasant time.
Although there was not wifi in the room, there was a very good service available free of charge in their cafe.
Great location with shopping centres, small market and many levels of eating establishments within walking.
Monorail within walking distance as well.

We were stopping over in KL for 4 nights and as the Bintang Warisan we were staying in only had room for 2 nights, we decided to move to this hotel for the next 2 night's stay, since it was just next door. Also, that would save us from unnecessary haggles with taxi drivers. However, that decision turned out to be a total mistake.

The hotel staff were rude, especially one of the older ladies. She was very mercenary, unfriendly, unhelpful and unprofessional. Even though that is a budget hotel, she behaved as though she was not interested in providing a decent service to her hotel guests. It was evident that all she wanted was just their money. On one occasion, she made no qualms about NOT granting our request for extra towels ( we had checked into a family room for 4 people, but were given only 2 bath towels). Instead, her reply was, " Get house-keeping if you see them." ( What if we did not SEE them?)

When we finally got the extra towels, we were totally put off by the sight of the soiled-looking, towels that even my 12 year-old son exclaimed, " Yucks, they are so yellowish!". Upon closer inspection, I noticed that one towel even had a patch of material (measuring about 3cm X 3cm) ,hand-sewn to repair a hole that had been there. I have stayed in different types of hotels before (four-star, mid-range, budget, etc) and I have never come across such misery on the part of the hotel management. To add insult to injury, I thought that miserable towel passed off as a bath mat, and not a bath towel, as the edges were frayed and there were stains on it.

The miser's attitude was also evident in that there wasn't even any tea/coffee making facilities - not a glass or a cup in sight. However, the bell boy told us that there were a few packets of snacks in the tiny bar that guests have to pay for should they want to consume these snacks!

In contrast, the Bintang Warisan immediately next door, which is also a mid-range hotel, has better facilities ( though quite basic) and treat guests better. We paid RM40 more for a family room there, had 2 comfortable double beds as well as breakfast.

Steer clear of the Cardogan Hotel if you don't want your holiday to be spoiled by callous hotel staff who seemed to enjoy being rude to guests. Even if you can't find any available or affordable accommodation along Jalan Bukit Bintang, there are better ones off the main road.
