“Worth the Stay!”

Location of hotel is great for shoppers. A short trip by cab will take you to the city for more shopping spree. Impressed with the excellent service rendered during my stay at this hotel. Room was very clean and staff were very courteous. Feedback given were implemented immeditely. Kudos to your team for a job well done!

This hotel is clean and well run. It is right in the heart of all the action but is in a cul de sac so it is very quiet. It is the cul-de-sac that can cause taxi drivers from the airport a problem, especially on Sunday, a market day. So have a map for the taxi driver. Check with the pre-paid taxi people at the airport to make sure you don't have to pay the tolls. Our driver tried that.
Two good restaurants on either side and at night there is a good kebab man in the middle of the cul-de-sac. Enjoy

This is an excellent value for money hotel suitable for families and couples wishing to enjoy a holiday in the centre of Kuala Lumpur which would not be harsh on your wallet.
It is conveniently located in Masjid India, where you shall find good quality food at affordable prices and within 5 minutes walking distance to Masjid Jamek Railway station which connects you to anywhere in Kuala Lumpur.
The owners are a very friendly international Malaysian and Mauritian couple who would do everything in their powers to help and make your stay enjoyable (You just have to ask :)). Iqbal, aka Mike.

Room Tip: Talk to the manager and ask for advice.

Room was very basic with kettle but no complementary tea/coffee no fridge and no english channels on TV. Great shower. Room appeared clean but when I wiped a spilt drink up with a cloth the cloth became black with dirt from both floor and work surface, cleaning superficial. No food in hotel but surrounded by local food outlets whose food was pretty tasteless and variable in price. One night I bought curry (watery & tasteless) rice and a large bag of pappads with dipping sauce for 6 ringgits. The next night I ate at the restaurant below the hotel and had two small bowls of freezing cold curry 4 chapattis and a can of soft drink for 21 ringgits (I'm sure a lot more than locals were charged). Hotel was very difficult to find although close to MRT station.

This was my fourth visit to Kuala Lumpur and my first stay at this hotel.

Pros:
1. Excellent pricing & value for money.
2. Flexible regarding number of pax in the room, etc.
3. Good comfy beds.
4. Lot of eateries located next door, mostly Indian-Malay food like parota, etc.
5. Connecting rooms available for large families/ groups.
6. Clean and functional.

Cons:
1. Very complicated location. Google maps is not reliable either. Its located between the local hawker food court and Maybank. They have an older sister branch call "Grand Orchard" so most people will direct you to it. But once you get your bearings right, it is hardly a 5-10 min walk to the Masjid Jamek MRT.
2. Air-conditioning is not very effective, maybe they require servicing.
3. The bathrooms although clean, are badly designed. The commode is located right next to the sink, so your face is literally on it.
4. The area in general is not a very "happening" one, so one might consider staying near Bukit Bintang for that. But at this price point DeGrand serves its purpose.

Am travelling alone for 1 week so low cost is key. This place is tucked away in an indian area so dont expect to see many westerners within a 1km radius. Good night market and cultural experience. Take a walk boit 20mins and you're in downtown kl. Taxi drivers hate this location in peak hour so you may have to tip them. Clean room with aircon and tv, towells soap but not much else.
