“Disappointing”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

I had the "pleasure" to stay at The Yard Boutique Hotel for 2 nights last week and I am totally disappointed about the experience.
Although the location is wonderful and the hotel has everything to be a great hotel, it wasn't at all.
The room was smelling bad and the bed sheets were dirty. I have asked the staff to change them and the new ones were even more dirty.
The bathroom was just next to the bed and just a glass separates the toilet from the rest of the room. No wardrobe or cupboard, no coffee or kettle facilities in the room and a lot of mosquitos.
The place is very noisy and the staff is not helpful at all.

Stayed one night and could not sleep for most of the night for 3 reasons: 1. airconditioner did not work and the room was warm and muggy 2. Mosquitoes kept biting 3. The absence of curtains meant that the street lights streamed in via the colored window panes. All in all a very forgettable experience. And when i mentioned item 1 and 2 to the counter staff when checking out, he tried to make it out like i was lying about the airconditioner and insolence from hotel staff is the last thing i would want to take after a bad night at the hotel. And guests would be well advised to check if there are holes in the wooden windows and there were 2 in mine..looks like they were there for a reason. The only thing going for the hotel was its cleanliness and proximity to Bukit Bintang.

Room Tip: my room had the street light coming in thro the window glass panes making it pretty impossible to sl...

Hidden away from the noise of a busy night life area, this is an idea place to be based for nights out and getting to the main shopping district in KL. Rooms are minimalist but comfortable with a quite courtyard to relax in... A recommended hotel at a great price.

The hotel has only 7 rooms. The decoration is nice. It is located nearby Alor Street. Easily walking to Bukit Bintang and take the monorail. Surrounding with great local restaurants, the barbeque chicken wing is a must to try. The room is large, clean and comfortable. All facilities are well prepared in the room. The staff is very nice and really has service mind. The rate is reasonable when comparing with the design, room size and location. Definitely stay here again.

Location is ok. Near to Alor street. You have to pass through an alley from the main street. Didn't seem to be that dirty and dark and dangerous as mentioned by others. There's a sign board on the main road. However, it is indeed much more easier to identify the Alpha Genesis Hotel in front of it first.

Staffs are nice and polite.

Room size is relatively small but ok. Shower area is very big. Some liked the 'open' shower area but I think it's kind of weird. It's outside the air-con zone. It's connected to the shower area of the neighhbour rooms. The wall is not till the ceiling. There's a 'fence' at the upper part. One can't go through but I guess if you climb that high, you can see others showering in the next room. That also means you can hear what others say there. I don't appreciate this kind of privacy in shower area.

The room facility is ok, with all necessary amenities.

For cleanliness, there's room to improve. There're strands of long hair in the shower area before we use it. Ants coming in from the yard. A real problem of mosquitoes, we killed three. There's stain of blood on the wall, obviously from a dead mosquito (or to be exact, from some travellers). They had mosquito repellent but that didn't seem to work.

The little yard looked nice but furnitures a bit dated.

Overall speaking, given that ok quality the rate is overpriced.

Great little place in the centre of the action. This place is tucked away but easy enough to find. It is 2 minutes from the bars but you don't get the noise and 2 minutes from Jalan Alor, the famous chinese food street. Within walking distance are Bukit Bintang Malls and the tiwn towers is also walkable. The rooms were interesting, grey concrete floors and walls with a unique design to the shower area. I would stay here again.

The photos on the website are pretty but the one i checked in like an old room without renovation. The wall painted in marl and the overall is not boutique at all. It is a very small hotel with only 12units and located in a quiet backyard of busy main road. Still can heard the disco techno sound in the mid night.
