“Great hotel to stay”
Reviewed 8 July 2013

Stayed for 3 nights on business trip.

The location of this hotel is near the KL Central, a bit further from the city center (Bukit Bintang and KLCC; need about 20 - 45 minutes by cab/shuttle depending on traffic condition). The Hotel provided free shuttles to Bukit Bintang and KL Central. The taxi fare from Bukit Bintang should not be more than MYR 15.

It's relatively new furbished hotel with colonial environment.

The room was quite spacious, clean and tidy. The bed sheet was white, clean and crispy.

They provided basic toiletries, like bath gel, shampoo and conditioner. You need to call for extra amenities, like razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.

The bathroom and bedroom was separated by glasses and curtain (put outside the bathroom).

You might need to call for making up the room in the morning time (before you leave for your activity). In day one, they didn't clean up the room until 5pm. Once I called, they made up the room immediately.

Let me start by saying that the hotel is very good. The greeting and in-room check in was nand efficient. The service given by the staff is professional and courteous at all times and the standard of the rooms is top class.

Just a few minor niggles to report. The hotel is located some distance from the central area, so the hotel has wisely provided a shuttle service (difficult to get taxis at busy times)The coach service into KL city centre is slow and the drivers like to stop and chat with their friends when out of sight of the hotel. A huge coach for 1 or 2 passengers seems OTT and a smaller minibus with a more frequent service would be better.

The breakfast is very good but the fruit juices are terrible. For such a good buffer, there should be decent fruit juices but the horrible orange juice (presumably from a concentrate) doesn't even taste of oranges.

The lunch buffet also very good but very little fresh fruit available for dessert apart from a tiny pot of mixed fruit. Several are needed to get a decent portion and there is no choice available.

I liked the hotel and the service was truly first class. Just sort out these little details and the place will be a gem

We had a great couple of nights here for the start of our honeymoon on a room only stay. The hotel is very grand and beautifully refurbished. Our deluxe suite in the modern tower wing was slick and well designed. Be warned there is only a glass wall separating the bathroom, and in turn glass doors separating shower and toilet - so not for the modest! The staff were fantastic and even left champagne & chocolates in our room as a honeymoon surprise. Great customer service all round and the shuttle bus departing hourly to bukit bintang & back was fantastic. We would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Tower wing is modern and slick but check bathroom privacy if not travelling as a couple!

Had dinner buffet at Contango recently. Great atmosphere and great service. Food was not too bad too. However, one thing that was lacking was the food labels. Normally, for buffets, there will be a card to label the type of food that is on the table. But somehow in Contango, there are no food labels and diners have to ask the staffs.

Even the ice-creams were not labeled and the guy tending the ice-cream area had to repeat the flavours that they have over and over again.

These are the little room for improvements, otherwise, its an excellent pkace to be! Especially the staff there, they are 5 star rated!

A charming hotel I would say. Beautiful room, very sexy.Taxi drivers doesn't know this place. Luckily I knew the where about otherwise we will be frustrated. The shuttle service gives you a great option to the important places in Kuala Lumpur which I feel an added value to our stay. Staffs are very helpful and courteous. Deco are very nice and gives you the feel of warmth. Very clean rooms and the turn down is excellent with ice in the rooms. The rooms are big and spacious. Overall our stay was a memorable one. keep it up.

This hotel is a veritable gem among the many 5 star properties in this busy, hectic city. Having been renovated to suit 21st century traveler needs yet maintaining a solid feel of its past glory days, the Majestic KL exceeded our expectations. We received a very warm and gracious welcome to the hotel. Kessavan, the chief concierge, was excellent in giving us directions. Wayne, the GM and Lynn, the Heritage Wing manager were at the front entrance to greet us. Very pleasant, helpful, and welcoming, Wayne requested that we treat the hotel like home and the staff as family. Lynn was always present during our stay, making sure that all our needs were fulfilled. It felt like we were indeed at home and among family!

Our room, the Governor's Suite in the Heritage Wing, was magnificent. Excellent furnishings, decor, and amenities...impeccable all around. The butler service was excellent...so attentive, personalized, and professional.

The hotel's location is unbeatable. Walking distance to many of KL's must-see and do sights and yet the hotel felt peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

Afternoon tea was a very enjoyable time. Quality food and service. I also enjoyed the great music played live by the resident pianist, Ooi Eu Jin. This wonderful gentleman is so talented and is a living legend...I congratulate the hotel for retaining his services. It was also a lovely experience to wander around the Heritage Wing and feel the history that is being preserved.

We will definitely keep the Majestic KL on our itinerary when we next travel through Malaysia. We will also highly recommend this hotel to those discerning travelers who can appreciate historic buildings and wish to be spoiled by terrific service. Another golden YTL property!

We decided to experience The Majestic as there was a promotion for the rooms.
The highlights:
-the spa . YTL spas and masseur always do a good job.
-proximity to city centre and free shuttle bus to main destinations
- the friendliness of most of the
staff
-breakfast buffet variety is awesome

Areas of improvement :
- we went fr tea at the cafe there and were not well informed by staff about the high tea buffet available
-price is exorbitant .

Overall good hotel but it lacks the wow factor for the price you pay.
