If you want something different from the run of the mill Indian restaurants, this is the place to go. They serve Kerala cuisine, the only such restaurant in Kuala Lumpur to the best of my knowledge and possibly in the whole of Malaysia.

Given the quality of food, its rarity, and the location it is value for your money.

This is an out of the way South Indian restaurant that is well worth a visit. All the dishes are individually prepared and served. Dinner for two (3-4 dishes with rice and nan/poori) works out at MYR 50 -70. Now there are cheaper places to eat Indian food in KL but what you are getting here is really beautiful food in a clean and tidy setting with personal service. This kind of dining in London or Sydney would cost you quite considerably more. The restaurant is open for dinner until 10 PM and there is of course wifi to facebook and tweet what a wonderful time you are having!

This is a small restaurant ( only about 8-10 tables) in Hartamas Shopping Center, and apparently is often full, so you should consider making a reservation if you want to be sure of a place.

It serves South Indian food from the Malabar Coast, which is quite different from the other Indian food readily available in Malaysia -it's neither the spicy (relatively) economical food you get in a banana leaf restaurant, nor is it the rich creamy cuisine in the more 'upmarket' North Indian shops. This was more expensive but less cloying than the usual options.

The food took a little time to come, which was surprising as we were the first customers there, but we didn't mind too much as they served pappadams with some delicious chutney to dip it in; that kept us quiet till the meal arrived!

They have a good variety of not-readily found dishes. We had the masala kulcha naan, which was naan stuffed with a thin paste of something (never got round to finding out what it was) which was good enough to eat on it's own, not requiring any accompaniment. A prawn dish, some vegetables and some briyani rice were our other choices, and they were all delicious. And at the end of the meal, we didn't feel stuffed and uncomfortable!

To finish off, we had masala tea and Bru coffee, which were milky and aromatic.

A nice place to go for a good Indian meal which is not the usual run of the mill one, a bit pricey but worth it.
