My mother booked this hotel for us because it was one of the better ones close to Institut Jantung Negara (dad was admitted there). I didn't have high expectations at all,
breakfast was mediocre at best (very few choices but management said it was because of Ramadan). Hotel occupancy was low, it was basically us and about 4 more travellers at breakfast. I came back home and read the reviews for this hotel and was quite surprised. I didn't meet the so called rude hotel owner, but otherwise the local staff were quite friendly. They would greet and open doors, press lift buttons, and would hail taxis for me. I also had a clean room as the cleaners came each day and gave the place a good clean. On one of the days, I left electronics and cash in the room (not on purpose) and came back to the room thinking it would be gone, but it was still in the room, untouched. We stayed there for over a week, mum requested for a different breakfast (I did mention it was mediocre at best), and the hotel manager actually came and said he would cook some fish congee for us and also had his staff cook some local noodles for us. There's some good places around for food (staff actually recommended them) - there's a bakuteh restaurant around the corner opposite the hotel with really good food. Rooms wise, it was comfortable - although we had one without a window (I didn't know that there was a choice that we can have one with windows), hence it was very hard to tell day and night and the coloured lighting in the corridors looked like we were in a bar. Overall if you are on a lower budget, this hotel is OK, and I would say the service that I had was actually above the service expected of a hotel in it's class.
