I stayed in the KL Hilton for 5 nights for my 3rd and final time this Chinese New year in must be my 30th trip to the city.

LOCATION: The hotel is extremely convenient if one travels from the airport by the KL Ekpress train as it is located just on top of the central train station. The hotel has a free shuttle to pick up guests from the station but even walking there takes a few minutes. Yet, for shopping in the centre of KL, the hotel is not that well located. One can take taxis but I find the taxi drivers in KL not always reliable and the traffic jams forbidding. Luckily, another shopping megamall (Mid Valley) is quite close by.

ROOMS: They are ultramodern and very comfortable indeed and are quite spacious too.

SERVICE: This is certainly deficient in many ways. The overall service is courteous but some staff could be aloof. Worst still are the many errors they made. For instance, when I checked in, the receptionist gave me a room which is smaller than the one I have paid for (but as I have stayed there before, I spotted the difference right away and argued for the right room). The key cards to the room malfunction on 3 separate occasions during our stay and we were locked out nearly every night we returned (as the receptionist apparently mixed up the day of our departure each time). On the first night of our stay, we found a blot of fresh red blood around 3cm in size on the sheets of my bed. It took us a lot of havoc to have the sheets changed at 1am. The list goes on....

BREAKFAST : The variety and the quality is probably amongst the best in KL but sadly, they no longer include a discounted breakfast with the room package now.

FACILITIES: Simply excellent and probably the best in KL. I think this hotel still has better managed and more comfortable facilities than Mandarin Oriental.

This hotel is still excellent but the overall level of service and the way it is managed seems to have deteriorated a bit recently. I begin to wonder why should I return, as there are so many far cheaper hotels in KL offering superior service and nearly the same level of facilities in a more central location?

We only had 23 hour and a bit in downtown KL, on our way to Vietnam. This hotel was recommended to me for it being well connected to train and metro. And so it is, a 28 minute ride by train from the airport, with someone welcoming you as you get to the station in KL. Our room was an open plan, with bedroom and bathroom only divided by a glass wall. The rooms are not extremely big but OK for the purpose.

The pool is on the roof of the 8th floor, while lying in the pool you can overlook the KL skyline and sip on your GT. Only negative point is that they close it as soon as it starts to rain (and it did).

From the train station you can take the pink metro line to downtown KL with a direct connection.

The hotel is the worst spot possible as you need to take a taxi/subway to go anywhere - shopping or food and entertainment. The dress codes for the 33rd floor are absolutely ridicules as I've seen people in there in a pair of sweat pants but a pair of $150 golfing shorts are out of the question - get a grip! I understand the whole religious concept so for the management to be be telling me that's the reason is ridiculous as there's alcohol everywhere etc etc! The Zeta bar lounge another ridiculous venue - smoky, stuffy and cold!
We booked a Hilton Grand Suite which was to have us book in on he 33rd floor at leisure but was booked at the front desk with a trainee. The room was suitable and the staff at the lobby bar were ok but the was it!.
Never again, I'm cashing in my points and moving on!

ROOMS

The rooms (or, at least ours was), were very clean, well appointed, with everything you could need for a visit. The 42" TV, the amply sized bathroom, the rain shower, and the panoramic views of KL and the lake gardens all help to make the rooms fantastic.

LOCATION

The hotel is under 60 seconds from KL Sentral Station; Sentral links you into the centre of town in 15 minutes, and to the airport in 28 minutes, and is enormously convenient.Taxi's shouldn't have too much trouble returning to the hotel, as Sentral is known to most. Avoid paying anymore than 20RM for a ride back from KLCC/Golden Triangle; taxi drivers refuse to use their meter and negotiate a fixed price before departing.

FOOD

We only stayed in the hotel for breakfast; eating a 3-course meal with alcohol for two can be done in the city centre for under RM150, so eating in the hotel makes little sense. As for the breakfast, the choice was outstanding, with Indian dishes, Japanese dishes, and other traditional Asian dishes on offer, as well as croissants, bread selections, eggs, waffles, omelettes, fruit, cereals, and most other western breakfast products.

SERVICE

Staff were very helpful, as you'd expect. Check-in and check-out took less than 5 minutes, staff were always around to help, recommend excursions, post mail and pretty much anything you would want them to do.

VALUE FOR MONEY

We travelled on a weekend that was included in the Hilton January sale, and so paid 50% of the usual price. For us, at £80 per night, it was good value for money, but if faced with paying twice that, it would be difficult to justify given the cheaper, and equally luxurious, hotels in the city centre (Mandarin Oriental and Traders for example).

OVERALL

A pleasant stay with no problems. It's nice to travel in the sweaty heat knowing you'll later be returning to a perfectly air-conditioned and luxuriously appointed hotel room. We robably wouldn't stay at the Hilton KL Sentral if confronted with a bill for 2x what we paid.

This hotel seems to be the best I ever stayed in till date. Location isn’t that good as compared to others in the golden triangle, Fortunately the Kuala Lumpur Sentral that’s situated right below the hotel (KL’s transport hub) make-up for the not so good location. Getting around the city has never been so easy with all the various means of transport right below the hotel. And with the KLIA express and Sky bus. Getting to the KLIA Airport and the LCCT Terminal is a breeze.

The level of service the staff gave has far surpassed my expectation. The entire team of staff never fail to greet and smile whenever I walk pass. The reception counter surprisingly has chairs for guest to utilise when they are checking-in/out. The housekeeping team were also very responsive and efficient. They arrived at my room within 3minute after my call. All I could say is that this hotel had an excellent team of staff that are friendly, professional and ever ready to serve.

I had a deluxe room (Twin Bed); Room was spacious and very nicely decorated with the Zen concept. It also had an open plan bathroom with 2 entrances. 1 thing that amuses me was the built in TV on the bathroom’s mirror. The range of Crabtree & Evelyn branded toiletries provided were great. Room were also equipped with the state of art technologies that would come useful for the business traveller. The huge 42 inch flat screen TV was a pure pleasure to watch. Looking out from the full length ceiling to floor window was the breath taking view of the city.

The swimming pool was huge as it’s shared with its neighbouring hotel the Le Meridian. I am sure kids would surely like the pool very much as it has a water slide and a huge wading pool which would entertain them for hours , The poolside were beautifully landscape with a scenic view of the suburbs .

Did not have a chance to try out the breakfast as the rate I paid for comes without the breakfast.

Price is a little bit on the high side however I am sure the excellent service you get and the nice environment is worth every single cent you paid. I would recommend this hotel to those are there to relax or on a business trip.

Stayed three nights at Hilton KL as a treat after two rough weeks motorcycling around the Visayas islands in Philippines. Some culture shock--this is first class North American business hotel with a few upticks you can only find in Asia.
The hotel is some distance from Twin Towers and main shopping district, but is excellent access to KL Sentral trains to airport--right across the street.
When you arrive from airport to KL Sentral, walk out the front and Hilton and its twin Le Meridient are right across the street. you'll come in on Parking 3 level; just go up elevator to check-in. Entrances to both hotels are side by side with Hilton on left and more subdued than neon midway lights into the Meridien.
My room was impressive with king bed, big marble tub, rain shower, and flat screen TV and internet hookups. Beautiful view out across the lake from 23rd floor.
Breakfast inclusive at lobby cafe, where I also ate dinner after sticker shock at pricing in other restaurants.(big gap up from Philippines!). Most of the guests looked to be salesmen or other businessmen working on deals in KL. Very few "shorts and sandals" tourists.
Used the excellent gym and swimming pool. First class.
Only complaints: gouging on in-room broadband internet. This is free at three star hotels, so Hilton charging $15US per day for internet is absurd--maybe in the early days of the internet, but this smacks of the same ripoff as outrageous mini-bar pricing($7US for a beer?)
Also, I suspect that the doorman has a racket going with his taxi buddies. The "taxi limo" he ordered up managed to ring up a $20 MR fare on the meter to Pavilion Plaza, when it was only $12MR on the way back. Better to go down to P3 level and catch a cab from the long line in front of KL Sentral. You will probably get the direct, not "scenic" route.
Other than these quibbles, this was a first-rate stay.
