We stayed in Casa Embon for 2 nights in August 2005. The location is great,
right by the Bukit Bintang malls and restaurants. The staff there were very
friendly and made us feel welcome. However, if you have high standards of
cleanliness this may not be the place for you. The showers were cold (freezing), although advertised as hot, and the toilet and bathroom area was very dirty and didn't look like it had ever been cleaned. We stayed in the private twin room, which was basic but OK. There were bunk beds (double below, single on top), which were fairly uncomfortable but sleepable. The room had windows, but they were frosted and very grimy. They had colourful sheets hung over them as curtains, which also looked like they needed a good wash. The room had air conditioning, which was remote controlled and very efficient. It was very noisy outside and we had some problems sleeping. There are backpack lockers in the room (if your backpack isn't too large), although the lock broke on one of them.
The kitchen is very small, and I wasn't convinced by the cleanliness of the
crockery and cutlery. The included breakfast, which you prepare yourself, is
toast with butter and cornflakes. There is a fridge where you could store food if you wished. The lounge is simple and has two sofas, with a good television and DVD player. There is a computer and the internet access is reasonable at RM4/hr. It is a very good place to meet fellow travellers. Our twin room cost about RM60 for one night.
