We spent several weeks in Kuala Lumpur on assignment and a local colleague took us to Moussandra for a relaxed low key dinner. The restaurant is unpretentious, on the 2nd floor on a side street off Jalan Bukit Bintang, there is a white awning and a simple sign to note its location. It is across from KL Plaza, and 2 blocks away from the Westin and Marriott hotels. It has a warm red, rustic dining room with oil painings to decorate the room, and there are large French windows that provide a nice view of the trees outside. It is a little bit of the real Mediterranean in the middle of KL.
The food is quite delicious, each tapa was perfectly prepared, and all the pasta dishes were well made and served piping hot. The owner is welcoming and made good suggestions. Two tapas we chose were not available and his suggestions for substitutions were very good. The service was good and unrushed. They plan to move locations in February 2013 because of a lack of foot traffic there (although I think that better signage and advertising would resolve this).
We enjoyed ourselves very much and returned for dinner the following week.
