Have been patronizing Marmalade since its inception in Mont' Kiara. Food used to be of better quality and portions. However, there are some signature dishes which have managed to retain the interest of my tastebuds. Try the Sounds of Havana salad (I can't find a replacement for this taste anywhere else!), the beef and chicken burgers, the breakfast club sandwich, the carrot cake and the apple crumble. The soups, pasta and quiche are inconsistent and have somewhat lost their punch.

The interiors for this outlet are lovely - colors are unique and soothing, space is well designed and generous. The environment is perfect for a ladies' day out or with the family.

Two of us had a Mediterranean sandwich - which was tasty, one had a chicken 'ham'burger sandwich (the establishment is Halal) which was huge - my daughter could not finish it and the little one had macaroni and cheese ... we all enjoyed the freshness and the comfy booth with a huge table - no scrunching up to fit. The little one even had a play area to burn off some of her extra energy as we waited (albeit not for long) for our food to arrive. The blended juice drinks were refreshing and the waitstaff was friendly. All in all, a very relaxing place to enjoy a fresh lunch.

Marmalade cafe is found on the 1st floor of the Bangsar Village Shopping Centre. It is a bright, airy modern cafe serving delicious salads, cakes, local delicacies but mainly a western style menu. It always seems to be crowded when I visit a sure sign the food is good. The coffee here is also very good.

My family ate here on a Sunday evening, a quick bite before heading home.

Two soups were ordered, both luke warm. The tomato soup was made from tinned tomatoes and looked like nothing more than blended tinned tomatoes with some tomato paste. It was ordinary but ok.

The pumpkin soup was made with local, tasteless pumpkin, not cooked with stock and unseasoned. It was also delivered luke warm and had to be sent back for re-heating. This was the worst pumpkin soup I have had in my life. It's difficult to destroy a pumpkin soup. I felt that I should be paid to eat this one.

My husband ordered frittata which clearly looked to be the best meal, served with a side salad. He said it tasted ok but not outstanding. The following morning he developed symptoms of food poisoning. Everyone else was ok. It has taken a visit to the hospital and a good week to recover from this. I can only assume Marmalade cafe does not refrigerate their frittata but leaves it out all day, serving portions from food left at room temperature.

We will not be eating there again and advise a word of caution to anyone thinking of doing so.

Food quality still the same with years back, just smaller portions & higher prices but understandable & no complaints there. Refurbished and it feels more suited for adults now, although they still maintain a child friendly area. My only comment is they need a better restaurant manager now that the owners are not here as often. The old team back in 2007/8 were much better. Waiter who took our order lacks training with limited english who got some of our orders wrong. Not helpful when you have special dietary needs and request they take out sugar in your drinks or fruits in your salad.
