“Great Service”
Reviewed 25 July 2013

We stayed here for a week during the end of June and first week of July in which the weather was spectacularly hot and sunny.

This resort is good value if you dont mind (ignore) its proximity to garbage island which can be seen smoldering in the distance, however choosing to stay in the deluxe beachfront unit meant that we had undisturbed views and access to the house reef and lagoon. If you are given units 130,129,128 then request a room change as we did. Erosion on the beachfront to these suites means that unsightly sandbags have been placed outside these units until a more permanent solution is found. We were given a suite with an unspoilt beachfront with no hassle.

Also choose to go either full board or half board. Half board gave us flexibility to eat at the other resturants or to order-in which we thought was good value. Also note that Oceans resturant which is the half/full board dining option has a diverse enough variety of dining options to ensure guests do not tire of eating at the same location. Staff are very friendly and attentive to any need and the food is delicious.

As for activities the snorkelling can keep you occupied for hours. The house reef is safe and provides enough coral beds to keep you entertained as you veiw the myriad of tropical fish on display. I also found that the lagoon provided some great diving opportunities as there are many larger schools of fish on display as well as unspoilt coral beds. Sharks and Manta rays frequent the waters but as with any creature provided you maintain a safe distance they are happy to do their own thing. Also enjoy the fishing and diving excursions offered by the resort to add some additional adventure to your experience. Free to use are a variety of watersporting/boating equipment.

Overall we had a magnificient relaxing time enjoying the sun, sand, and swimming. The views are spectacular and the service was excellent in every way. I am not sure if I would come back to Centara purely because Im tempted to try a location with more distance from Male and garbage island. Its not the most attractive thing to see when walking around to the aspect of the resort that faces toward that particular direction.

The souvenir shop was good value as was the dining -n option. We were lucky enough to spend a day on Male prior to arriving at Centara wher we purchase junkfood, snacks and drinks to last us our stay and negating the need for the minibar expenses. Just pack light and allow yourself to relax and enjoy.

Room Tip: Ask to change if they give you 130,129,128

Traveled to Maldives and stayed here earlier this month. Very relaxing. Some observations.
1. At check-in my Spa Villa was not ready (overbooked). Had to stay in another villa for a night and moved next afternoon. Although checkout time was extended, still very inconvenient.
2. This 4-star property’s got that cozy, small-village feel – exactly what city folks like me look for.
3. Staffs were very friendly and wore smiles frequently, but some were overworked. Please keep-up the cheerfulness (helped me to relax).
4. Food was good (especially the buffet restaurant), but Resort needs to open 4th restaurant soon.
5. Seafloor (both the beach and the Villa) has many rocks (tree trunks too). We heard and wore plastic shoes when snorkeling. They are recommended.
6. If you are planning to do city exploring (say, going to Male), better stay close to city. It’s painful to have to take the seaplanes or long speedboat rides around everyday.
7. Although somewhat expensive, plan for an excursion. Make the stay count.
8. The long flights (10 hours one-way including stopover) were worth it. Maldives are very different from other places. You don’t get to swim in the middle of an ocean everyday.

Room Tip: Choose a water villa on the northwest side of the resort if possible. Even numbers face the lagoon...

This place was awesome - small and quiet island with beautiful sandy beaches and 4 restaurants. We had a water villa with direct access to the water. Our room was quite small, but the view was spectacular. Beaches were a bit small, but they were kept clean all the time. You can have snorkeling equipment free of charge, so I recommend to rent it, because underwater life is fantastic. I can also recommend Thai restaurant, as the best place to eat on the island. But remember to make reservations 1-2 days before, as it has limited number of tables. Portions are bigger and better than in the Italian restaurant.
We were offered to upgrade from half-board to all-inclusive, which we did and it was a good decision, as it cost 60$ per couple per day, much less than you need to pay, if you like to have lunch and drinks throughout a day.
And one of the main reasons we have chosen this resort was the fact that this island is for people over 12 years old, so you can be sure, there won't be any screaming children running around. You can really relax there!

Room Tip: Water villas are much better option than beach villas!

When I started my vacation I was looking for a good relax family holidays. That's why I searched for a resort with an all inclusive package. I was not disappointed and I believe it is one of my best choice I've made so far.
Pros:
1. All-inclusive meal packages including water, all soft drinks, cocktails, wines (excluding certain liqueurs). We checked-in very late in the first night so we missed our meals but they prepared snacks for us in our rooms. After we've checked-out they give us free lunch in the Thai restaurant and free use of the bars (non-alchohlic drinks) until we left with the speedboat transfer at 8:00pm. Although the other guests and some of their staff may got the wrong information with the meal arrangement, it take no time for the management to clarify everything and they apologized for the confusion. Make sure to contact the senior management beforehand.
2. Clean rooms (Water-villas).
3. New facilities (only opened in Mar 13)
4. Good Thai foods
5. No screaming small children and GOs around. (That's why I don't choose Club Med Kani)
6. Very friendly staff, especially the Thai lady head waitress.
Cons:
1. Limited facilities to use because of small island.
2. Teething problems around: (plants are dying and construction works around)
3. Don't expect to receive a decadent pamper here. Not for LOVE BIRDS! (Romantic couples take heed)

Room Tip: Even no. water villas has the sunset view but you can also have it in the Viu bar. I stayed in 328...

When we were transfer from the airport to the resort via speedboat, they provide mineral water which is good. When we reach the resort, we were welcome by their Resort Customer Relations team which they arrange a chinese speaking staff to intro and bring us to our room. I notice they have thai, english & etc speaking staff too which is great for foreigners. We stay at Deluxe Beach Villa room 124, the room was superb but the disappointment is the ipod-docking system show in their site is still not available and our window view is block by some trees and sandbag in front. When is raining , we were boring as the satellite tv is out of reception. The food is superb in their Ocean restaurants, and may i recommend their pastry breads is delicious. I advise if you sit near outside, please make sure your food is being watch by somebody, else the crows will fly in n pick some of your food and fly away. For breakfast time if you lucky you may see some dolphins jump out of the sea under the sunrise light.

Their Viu Bar is great for resting or just enjoying the view of the ocean and you can fish feeding there too.

We were on our honeymoon for 11 days. Centara made sure each day was special. The rooms are out of the world, we split our stay between oceanfront beach bungalow n sunset spa water villa. View from the both the rooms were spectacular. Very comfy beds n amazingly clean rooms. The restraunts are good too.. Our favourite was the Oceans front.. Pool bar/ waves bar n giraviru bar both were amazing.. Viu bar surely takes you in a different world, m falling short of words to explain the beauty of this place. The staff is highly courteous. Always smiling. Always there if you need anything. Had a splendid time beyond my expectations.. N ya go for all inclusive plan... Great snorkeling..Great resort great everything!!!!!
