I stayed recently following a late night arrival into Male, before my early morning transfer to my resort the next day. Pickup was smooth and the staff at the hotel were very friendly. The room was well set up for a family of four for the night (king bed and pull out sofa for two young kids). The price was very good in comparison to the Jen (who don't do family rooms, so the cost would have been USD1k or so - which, for a night at the Jen is obscene) or the resorts, but will still set you back about the same as a 5 star hotel in London or New York. Morning transfer wasn't so great - a lot of hanging around and the person sent with us did no more than watch us struggle in the rain from afar. But that many have been bad luck. Overall, worth staying at the Somerset if you need a place to stay in transit.

We chose to stay at The Somerset in Male for 1 night on our way to the main attraction of the Maldives, the island!

We were met at the airport by a hotel greeter and guided to the ferry to take us across the Male. A short txt ride later and we were at the hotel.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy but perfectly adequate for an overnight stay.

Breakfast is included in the rate - simple but OK.

Would recommend for a transit stay in Male.

Somerset Hotel is located right in the heart of the capital city, Male which is a boat ride away from the airport.

The hotel rooms are clean plus the gave free packed breakfast since our flight heading to our resort is so early.

The hotel accepts dollar payments so it won't be a hassle for you exchanging money.

Words of advice:

1. If you're flight will arrive in Maldives late at night. Please head to the booths where the various hotel representatives are located. It is a 3-5 min walk right after you exit.

2. Don't be confused or shocked if you arrange for an airport transfer and there's no one waiting for you. Please head to the booth as the other guests of the hotel are also lining up there.

3. They will arrange for your trips via boat transfer so just let them know your itinerary.

4. They are very nice people.
