....to Oliver, the representative of Mason's Travel Mahe, and our tour guide Thomas!
We just arrived back in Switzerland and would like to thank Oliver and Thomas very, very much:
Oliver, with whom we booked two day trips, was very helpful - also out of his duties - with some problems occurred with our flight to Mahe. Our flight back home was super! He also took enough time explaining and advising us detailed about the trips in Mason's program.

Thomas, our tour guide in both trips we booked, has an extremely good knowledge about his country. At any time he was very polite with all the different temperaments in the group. He took a lot of time in showing us the attractions and answering our questions.

Two employees Mason's can really be prowd of!

I had a great time on the day tour of La Digue and Praslin. Everything seemed to be in order and Mason's executed everything flawlessly. Not much waiting around, except for the ferry ride, which wasn't much of a wait. It did rain on us in La Digue for a couple of hours and was hindering my photography, but you can't predict mother nature. The tour moved fairly quickly, but that is to be expected when you have several places to visit in one day. My guide was very knowledgeable and just a good soul to be around. I've read some negative comments on here and well, i guess you can't please everyone. Also, it's cheaper to do the tour than to do it on your own. So, many thanks to Mason's and to Jimmy (guide).

On the 17th of January we went on an excursion booked via Mason's, half a day snorkeling and half a day cycling on La Digue. Cycling was fine, not the newest bikes, but fine (really nice to do by the way).

The snorkeling trip was executed by Lone Wolf Charters and done so really poorly. Main thing was that their snorkeling gear was just rubbish. We tried several masks and tubes and all were faulty. We couldn't find a tube that would not fill up with water.

Another thing was the that the boat did not stay with the group but left several times, meaning that you would have to swim to a beach to rest. This in itself is not too bad, but no access to our bag and sunscreen left us with sunburn. On the second snorkeling spot (Felicite) the way to the beach was covered with rocks and not easily accessible. Several members in our group ended up with cuts and bruises.

All in all, the lovely snorkeling experienced was spoiled by a bad tour operator.

Dear Guest,
We have recently viewed your comment and I thank you for your review, you have brought some useful information and we have communicated this to our team. We are deeply disappointed that our service on this occasion was at this level. Let me assure you that this is not of our standards and we are taking all necessary measures to prevent this from happening. Masons Travel largely enjoys high ratings from customer feedback, however we need to be more thorough with our subcontractors. Thank you for your useful comments, it helps us in improving our service standards.
Kind Regards,

We took the day tour of Praslin and La Digue and were seriously underwhelmed. It may be impossible to offer a truly exceptional experience for mass consumption, but Masons failed to meet even the most modest standards while charging an exorbitant price (about a thousand dollars for a family of four). The guides were reasonably knowledgeable but were focused on moving us briskly through the various stops rather than providing insights into what makes the islands special or giving us a sense of each location. When we asked about a changing area at the beach on La Digue, the guide advised us to "find a big rock" and change behind it in preparation for our 45-minute stop. Likewise, we arrived at our final stop, a beach on Praslin, 10 minutes before the pay toilets were closed for the day, which meant either an awkward change back into street clothes on the beach or an hour-long ferry ride back to Victoria in a wet bathing suit. The rapid tour of a coconut plantation on La Digue was particularly underwhelming, as was the slow oxcart procession to the plantation, which ate up a considerable chunk of our limited time. We noticed vehicles from a competitor named Creole Tours at most of our stops--maybe they do a better job. Better yet, plan on spending at least a day on each island to really get a feel for them.

We took a day cruise out to the marine park around Moyenne Island on Mason's large cruising catamaran. Very well organised, nice lunch on board included in price, and friendly helpful staff.
Semi-submerged glass bottom boat that meets you out near the islands was mediocre but that's par for the course with glass bottom boats - far better off snorkeling.
Snorkeling from the cat was good, unfortunately the coral is suffering from storm damage at present.
Moyenne Island has giant tortoises roaming free and a nice little beach with sand-bar that gets waves washing in from both sides around the island - pretty cool - a good place to relax after lunch.
