The drive up was awesome but the views of the island were incredible! The ladies who were there as guides were so very sweet and helpful in telling us about the history of the Lodge...a mus go-to...

Great lookout and fantastic pic opportunity with views of Eden Island and surrounding Islands in the background. Magical.

I agree with "suza2013" - it's such a shame the site is neglected.
The Information board (photos from other visitors) tells the story of this special place is one redeeming feature - the major saving grace is the stunning and fabulous view.
It's a place any first-time visitor should go to, simply because of the view if nothing else.

really interesting history, mission to support the children, in 1860 2409 slaves were released on Mahe and in 1872 there were concerns for the children and they built a school on this site but there isn't a lot to see now - could be better, the information plaque gives some detail.

This is probably the best viewpoint on Mahe. Stunning.
Approach to it is along a single track road into a tiny car park, past some ruins and remains of sign boards and along a rough path. There is an air of lack of maintenance and melancholy. Visitors could well think this is simply a view point.
This location is actually Venn's Town, a Seychelles National Monument. UNESCO describes is as “a place of unique historical, cultural, aesthetic and ecological value”. It was set up by the Church Missionary Society 1879 to 1889 to accommodate children of liberated slaves. If you are interested in this try an internet search for 'Venn's Town Seychelles' .
Unfortunately the site has not been maintained and to my mind is a disgrace. Top marks for the view. No marks for not looking after your heritage. Shame on you Seychelles.
