The quality of this restaurant is unquestioned. Their salad/appetizer buffet is the best of its class. The executive lunch sets are substantial and you get a lot for what you pay for, which is also a lot.

It's a well designed elegant restaurant in Mandarin Oriental Manila. We reserved a table for five when they had a guest chef come in for the week. The much publicized and anticipated Michelin starred Chef Olivier Rodriguez' was set to cook his famous dishes for the Manila dining crowd. We arrived promptly at 730pm and consider ourselves one of the earlier diners. Soon the Tivoli was full of guests in their evening clothes. Everyone was looking forward to a fantastic meal. Unfortunately, The Tivoli failed us. The staff took 15 min to get us all a menu, another 15 minutes to serve us wine. We had to follow up on our bread basket twice before we got it.. Another 30minutes pass, before they even served us plain water. The degustation menu was 7 dishes long. We were served the first dish at 930PM. Almost two hours after we arrived. We can understand that the kitchen might have encountered some trouble and couldn't push the dishes out. But the staff in the dining room should try to alleviate the wait by serving either more wine, bread, water or a soft apology. The waiters were trying to avoid the guests. They were visibly undertrained and the manager was just focusing on a few particular tables with VIP, Ignoring the rest of the dining room. We finally left at 10pm after the first dish as we were starving. The manager did not charge us for the first dish but charged us for the wine. Honestly, i would have paid to get out of the restaurant at that point.
