“Inexpensive and well run hotel in Ermita, Manila, Philippines”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 February 2014

I stayed here 6 nights and relative to the price of $33.00 a night, breakfast and taxes included was an excellent deal.
The property is not fancy but well kept and clean
I had a small room, they call it Petite room with a 24 inch TV and the AC worked well.
Bathroom was simple and clean (No extra towels or coffee machine).
They have a very large stuff and are kept busy. There are around 10 workers around midnight, cleaning windows, wall, floor, etc. and they are always courteous to customers.
Smoking is not allowed in the room and if discovered there is a penalty of about one night room cost. They have 4 patio tables facing the street, where I sometime ordered coffee from them or I bought my own water bottles from a 7 Eleven store and smoked there.
Ermita is not a classy neighborhood but found no problems or perception of problems.
It's about 1 block from Rizal Park, 3 blocks from Robinson shopping center, 2 blocks from the Manila Pavillion Casino (a former Hilton property? and 3 blocks from the LRT station (Light rail transit, an above ground mass rapid system), you can pretty much go around metro Manila with the system. One way = 15 pesos or .33 cents US
Summary.- If you are like me that can not stand low standard but not pursuing a 4 or 5 star quality hotel and price then Casa Bocobo is an excellent choice.
I highly recommend it.
Note : The room had a double bed and the price covered for 2 people with breakfast.
I am glad I read the reviews from tripadvisor while booking this hotel.

Room Tip: No swimming pool or fitness center

There's only ONE advantage with this hotel, the location is close to shopping, restaurants and other things.

The rooms are fairly clean, but beds are not of hotel standard, thin cheap clothing, no real quilt (just like an old cheap blanket). Only 1 thin old towel, and no handtowel. Aircon looked like ready to fall out of wall.

Now, worst of all was the service!
At lunch we rang 'call waitor' but when we at last after 15 minutes got anyone's attention we were informed that the button was broken!
We ordered a taxi for our early flight just to be woken 1.5 hours too early! Nice steal of our needed sleep.
At our stay it seemed like about 90% of the staff was wearing a trainee badge.

Pros:
Location, fairly quiet street.

Cons:
Terrible service, poor standard, food not nice (garlic was burnt like coal).

This place has a great location, within walking distance of Rizal Park and Intramuros in particular. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was pretty good if not spectacular with a good range of choices. The rooms themselves are quite basic but clean. Bathrooms small but clean also. All in all, a good no frills choice.

Initially Casa Bocobo was not in plan stay plan. However, after staying in tune hotel for a day I decided to try Casa Bocobo and I have to say I was not disappointed. I should thanks TA for this. I stayed for 2 nights in Dec 2013.
I took a room meant for single person. Though small, it is sufficient for one person to crash in the bed at the end of a tiring day. The room has basic furniture. the bathroom is clean and neat. The toilet amenities, towels, AC and television are all included in the price which is a real bargain,
The staff is friendly and efficient. They are very helpful in providing any information you need.
the cafe serves good food. Oh...i forgot to mention one more important thing...the Breakfast is also included in the room price!!! And it is pretty decent.
The hotel is located very close to Rizal Park. The other attractions are also close by.

I would definitely recommend this VALUE FOR MONEY hotel!

I stay in the smallest single room. It was a compact size room fit for a solo traveller. Comfy bed, free wifi (though I couldn't connect to wifi in room, only at front and cafe), good hot shower with high water pressure, decent free breakfast though nothing special about it.

It locates in a side street not far from main ones so you won't be bothered with traffic noises. The location is good and I feel safe walking alone at night.

My only complain about this hotel is that, the room I stayed is right beside the downstairs kitchen's ventilation fans so I heard the noise all through my stay. Luckily I am not a trouble sleeper and I only stayed for one night so I didn't bother to change a room. If you are, though, request the hotel for a quieter room. They also provide earplugs for free in your room, if it helps.

Room Tip: Choose a room on second floor, and request for a room far away from ventilation fans.

We stayed at their twin double coz there's no other room available. The room is very clean and spacious but there's no mini bar and coffee maker and hair dryer too. The room includes free breakfast and wifi. The wifi has a good speed but sometimes weak signal. Maybe our room is far from the router. All in all i recommend this hotel for those who wants comfort without drilling a hole in your pocket.

Staff team is superb, the cleaners are constantly mopping the floors and greeting you with a smile. Food in the restaurant is good and cheap. 3 blocks from the mall and 5 minutes taxis from Asia mall. As most of Manila watch out when coming out and wear no jewelry etc and you will be fine.
