“Convenient location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

Location wise it is quite a convenient place for shopping, morning walk or jogging near the Marina Bay. In other respect there is nothing much I can appreciate. The carpet is smelly and dirty and the taps were leaking. As Jacek said, it needs quite a bit of renovation. The staircase tiles have chipped off. It is noisy during night time as loud music is played in one of the next door restaurant. It is comparatively cheaper though and the staff were friendly and nice.

Room Tip: Chose a room away from the Bellagio Square Hotel and may be on the 3rd or 4th floor.

Located just 2 walking minutes from Robinson's Ermita. The rooms are quite Spartan and run down. No fridge, no hair dryer, a 12" TV you'd only find a museum and not very clean either. Pillows are just pieces of foam, very hard and uncomfortable. Right next to the hotel is Bellagio square with bands playing every night at deafening volumes. Get a room in the front facing the stage and forget about sleep. In the back yard someone set up a chicken farm and from about 3am onwards the roosters will keep you awake if you get a room not facing J.Bocobo St. Basically either way, get ear plugs or forget about sleeping.

On the upside their room service menu is extensive and they had a 50% promo on all items. Did not order but it looked like a very good deal. The staff is friendly and the free Wifi was working well in my room (#501). They also have a dedicated hotel detective on duty who took his job seriously which is great because the area has some unwelcome characters. Would I book it again ? No. Would I recommend it ? No. If you can spend USD 10 more per night, you get a LOT better hotel/room.

I paid P 1699 via www.asiatravel.com

I feel sorry for the very friendly staff but they can't cover for the fact that the hotel simply needs a major renovation.

Room Tip: Every room is bound to be noisy. Best chance is to be as high up as possible and facing away from Ro...

Convenient location close to Robinson's Mall, Manila bay, and Hyatt Casino.

But rooms lack any desire. Old Hotel. Upon checking is there were large roaches. Bellboy took off shoe & swatted it. There was another already upside down & dead. Hotel maybe decent for backpacker in transit. Breakfast was either Filipino or American and was fine.

Rooster next door went off about 3:30 am & didn't stop until daylight.

Room Tip: Wouldn't know, maybe breach roach spray.

This hotel (motel?) is your garden variety type of budget establishment in the Ermita and Malate area. I stayed here one night in February and can't complain about anything. My perspective overall is that it was kind of a utilitarian experience, in that it met the needs that I expected or anticipated from it.

A previous reviewer said that he could not preview the room prior to payment. That was not the case with me. The cheerful, pleasant, and competent young lady behind the desk gladly allowed me to look at a room before paying, and another cheerful and business-like room attendant boy escorted me to look at different rooms. Nothing negative to report about this.

I think I paid around 1,400 pesos or something, about $30 and some change. The room was actually OK, a little dated in appearance but fully functional. It is an older building, and the furnishings appear to not have been changed in quite some years. The bathoom was OK, but clean, just on the older side. No window view, that was taken up by the A/C unit, which chugged along but which worked fine after getting some momentum going. Not sure a view would have been much anyway, as my room faced Robinson's Mall and I would have been staring at the mall entrance. You could hear the noise on Pedro Gil Avenue in front of the mall, but it died down in the late evening after the mall closed at 10. In sum, the room met my expectations and there were no "creepy" issues encountered, like bugs, bad towels, stains, defects, etc. It simply met my needs and standards.

The lobby decor reminded me of what hotel (motel?) lobbies must have been like in Manila in the 60s. It was surrounded by a balcony, so there was this feel of majesty about the place, and there also seemed to be an emphasis on window drapes. This just all kind of struck me as odd for a budget inn, but I guess it's still living its old days (which were perhaps majestic?).

As stated, the staff were all pleasant and very competent, no issues. I gather that most of the clientele are Balikbayans and Filipino residents of the country. If you cannot afford the 5-star hotels in the area, there are no real "middle ground" places and these budget hotels (motels?) are about the only alternative.

The location is real good, Robinson's Mall Ermita is almost right across the street and it is close to everything interesting in the Ermita and Malate area.

To sum it up, it's an old hotel still chugging along, not great but not bad, in a good location. I didn't see any questionable type of guests around, so it is safe for the family. Would I return? Yes. And for those on a budget, it beats most of its budget peers. If you're on a budget, I can recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask to see a room or two first.

Checked in on the 28th of March 2013, was lured by the discounted promo and the good location. Its very near to the Robinsons Mall, Restobars, ATMs, the Boulevard, and Rizal Park (Luneta). The staff were polite and friendly, they offered us a complimentary drink of orange juice while we were waiting for the check in time (1pm) at their lobby lounge. Then their room boy escorted us to the room on the 4th floor. The room was quite old, old furnitures, old beds, and old tv. I checked the CR, the light was dim, really old toilet and shower, the tiles are dirty with the grouts and molds. Their room was wide enough and well lit by natural light since they had large windows.

But the thing that bothered me most was that smell when we entered the room, as if there was something starting to rot. I checked the furnitures, the windows, every nook and cranny of the room and finally found a dead mice at the back of the headboard of our bed where there was an open outlet.

We called the front desk and told them about it, they apologized and transferred us to another room. Our new room was cleane but still very old and creepy but will do for a sleep. The room was carpeted, furnitures and fixtures were still old, small TV, old and noisy AC, Toilet window has no blinds they just covered it with a yellow paper, and the ceiling on the toilet looks like it was about to fall coz its too old. And to sum it all up:

Pros:
-Good Location
-Very Near to Mall, Hospital, Banks, Money Changers, Parks, and Restos
-Budget Friendly
-Free Breakfast
-Free room Wifi
-Friendly Staff

Cons:
-Very old Hotel
-Needs renovation
-Not well maintained
-Not a good place to relax
-Small TV
-Old and noisy AC

Booked a room for a post valientine's weekend with my BF.
The only reason I booked here was because of two reasons:
A. The discounted price
B. The close proximity to Robinsions Manila Mall

I booked directly to the hotel's website since the rate there is cheaper compared to Agoda; we got the deluxe room.
The building is very easy to find from the Robinsons Mall; the hotel is old - probably built in the 1990s. The staff is young and very attentive, we stayed in the 6th floor. It seems like they are trying to update the hotel, the walls are newly painted and the floors look like it was new too.

The room was old school, no key cards, use the standard keys. The bed cushion is new, the air conditioner and 14 inch LCD TV. Room is newly painted and new tiles on the bathroom; but the furniture is definitely old and stained. Like the velvet cover under the glass of the console table - looks old and has small stains. The closet, side tables and bed frame are made of old wood - reminds me of the furniture I find in my grand dad's home. The room is clean though, the sheets and towels are very clean too. The walls are indeed thin, we could hear people when they walk past our room. Bathroom is clean with hot and cold showers, but the ceiling does have old water stains. The hotel restaurant is not good, the breakfast we had could have been prepared by a 10 year old.

Overall, I would not say this is a bad hotel; maybe if you plan to be in Manila for a maximum 4 days and you are in a tight budget, you can opt to stay here. Its not a hotel to find relaxation, just somewhere to sleep.
