Very nice hotel with a great staff. This is the most luxurious hotel I have ever stayed in. Its close enough to the boardwalk to walk down there in the evening to enjoy the shows.

We stayed in the Pan Pacific for three days (Jan 25-26-27, 2008). We were extremely pleased with all aspects of this hotel. The staff were very courteous and professional, the food was terrific (especially the breakfast buffet) and the exercise room/outdoor pool facilities were tremendous. Be careful, as the pool deck tends to be slippery.

We had read some prior reviews of the Pan Pacific before our trip and we had some concerns, especially as some posts mentioned questionable food . Maybe Pan Pacific has made great efforts to improve, or maybe prior posts were overly critical, but we were really pleased with the food.

We are really glad we stayed at this hotel, and we highly recommend it. Prices were reasonable, quality was terrific. Congratulations and thanks very much, to all of the staff.

Bill and Zony, Toronto Canada.

Pan Pacific Manila was booked online using Agoda. Having used Agoda's service in the past with our billing information already registered in their database, the booking was quick. This is quite an upscale five-star class hotel. This hotel was chosen for its location in the Spanish Quarter, Malate area, where there's a gay scene nightlife and close walking distance to Robinson's Place for shopping, eating, cineplex, and two miles from the business district, underground parking is available.

There's a K-9 dog unit at the entrance to sniff out your incoming baggage, metal detector, security initially suspicious then friendly smiling staff once they realize you're hotel guests.

Check in was relatively easy. The room is very spacious and nicely done with a king size, comfortable bed for a good night sleep. The bathroom is nicely done with a bathtub, a separate shower, large mirrors, illuminated convex mirror for your shaving. The shower door wouldn't close completely, allowing water to get on the bathroom floor, a minor maintenance issue. Access through the upper floors, elevator, room is through the use of your hotel issued swipe card during your stay. A mini bar, fridge is available for use. There is turn down service for your bed.

A Jacuzzi and swimming pool on the 6th floor with towels provided is available for use from 6am to 8pm. A health club on the 6th floor is available for an additional fee offers spa treatments, massage, salon services, a sauna, and steam room. Broadband Internet is available for an additional fee.

Adriatico Square, a five floor complex inside the hotel, has 30 restaurants and bars, for coffee, cocktails, a light meal, or a fine dining experience. Guests may order room service from any of these restaurants. The Pacific Lounge is on the 21st floor, an elegant place for breakfast, afternoon tea, and cocktails.

Complimentary coffee or tea is provided offered along with our wake up call when we asked for one. Though a minor error was made, provided two coffees instead of one coffee and one tea requested. The staff were alerted of this error and was offered to be redelivered, which we declined.

  • Liked — It's location in Malate is great
  • Disliked — no complimentary wi-fi

I stayed one night at this hotel for the simple reason someone else was paying. I was pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent, the complimentary coffee with the wake-up call was an extremely nice touch.
The room was definitely on the large size. Good bed, nice work desk, only the chair and foot stool looked a bit worn. Also a nice big bathroom with a proper deep bath, rather the very shallow ones which seem to be the norm in Manila.
Area wise though, at least on what I saw I wouldn't choose it.
If this hotel was in Makati I'd definitely go back

I stayed at the Pan Pacific twice in November, 2007 for a total of five nights. Booked on the hotel's internet site, where you can get the best rates, e.g. a great Pacific King room for $119 plus plus (12%(?) VAT and 10% service charges). Not cheap but a great value for the quality of the room and the excellent service provided by the superb staff.

My big and only complaint, which other reviewers have similarly noted, is the food in the Pacific Lounge is absolutely terrible. I just don't get it -- a great hotel offerring up poor food and vastly overpriced liquor. My wife and I made the mistake of returning to the Lounge after a barely adequate first dinner there, and this second meal was inedible. I complained to the waiter and both he and the manager where very sympathetic, but I couldn't even get them to knock the price of my wife's wretched entre off the bill.

Pan Pacific -- please wake up and overhaul the Pacific Lounge!!!

The hotel is very nice with butler's everywhere. The housekeeping, room service and laundry staff were outstanding. The only problem with this hotel is the food is really lousy. I went to the club floor, lounge and room service for food orders. All the food tastes and looked like it was cooked in big batches then frozen and microwaved before serving. After the first 2 days, I went out for all my meals. Sorry to say this but the hotel food was the worst I ever had anywhere.
