Attended another convention and stayed at the Manila Hotel. I am not really a fan of this hotel considering that it is run by a government owned company and it is quite old (almost 100 years old).

I got a regular room whose view faced onto the front of the hotel. I had a view of Rizal Park, some parts of the Manila Ocean Park, downtown Manila and Manila Bay. The room itself was quite old but everything was within acceptable limits plus it had a rustic old-world Manila feel to it. It had a large flat screen TV, lots of storage space, a large desk, a large bathroom with a tub. The air conditioning unit wasn't really quite up to the noontime Manila heat but a quick call to the maintenance people improved it a bit. The huge king sized bed was also very comfy

My associate had a suite room on the same floor and it was huge. With a separate receiving are, a loft and an enclosed bedroom. Again, furnishings were a bit old but seemed to keep in line with the rustic image of the hotel.

Our other associates had a more modern room in the new wing at the third floor. No view except for the container port and terminal but the room was very modern. A nice place for business travelers.

Breakfast buffet was great. At least for a regular joe like me. Free internet on all rooms!

And one thing that I really like about this place is Filipino hospitality. Everyone was so nice and the staff always aim to please. Something missing in other similar hotels.

Here are some stuff that I did not like so much. There is very little secured parking space. Although you can always avail of the valet service. In one conference, the drinking glasses we got smelled dusty and old. And again, that weak air conditioner in one of our rooms.

But overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone planning to visit Manila.

Room Tip: If you want a good room, try ones in the newer wing. The view is not as great but the room is very...

I loved this hotel. Upon our arrival, after traveling for 28 hours, the front desk was backed up. We explained our situation to one of the staff in the lobby, she brought us over to seating in the lobby, and personally took care of our check in, which we really appreciated.. The rooms are beautiful, and clean which is one of our important criteria.

The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've seen. It had an extensive offering of different foods, some fillipino, some international.

I would definately stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: A room with a view of the bay is nice. It also provides an understanding of the historic significanc...

We really enjoyed our 5 nights at Manila Hotel. When we asked at arrival for a room with seaview, we got one in 17th floor overlooking the bay which made our stay really nice.
Our room was twinbedded. Big flatscreen TV (and a watertight in the bathroom as well!) The room has probably been redecorated not long time ago.
The room was very clean even on top of the TV-kabinet, which is high!
Free internet (cable), quite fast.
The breakfastbuffet is very nice and one of the best we have had for a long time.
We also tried the dinnerbuffet at Christmaseve, very good!
Due to Christmastime there were concerts in the lobbylounge every day. In addition there were jazzmusic every night in The Taproom.
The Manila Hotel has a nice swimmingpool withy a good view over the Manila Bay.
We were a little bit frightened when we discovered armered securityguards with dogs outside when we arrived, but they are there for our own security

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the Manila Bay

at last i had my first taste of manila hotel hospitality last dec 6-8, 2011. . jun & i got a matrimonial room, # 1325. the room was newly renovated and refurbished. there was 8 sets of pillow i think, so many that we did not use the rest, lol! the toiletries are supplied by l'occtane. the buffet breakfast was so far the best. lots would be an understatement for too many choices! service is good. the sunken bar at the pool is just amazing. mini orchestra at the lobby playing filipino music is great! check in and check out are hassle free. surely i will be back. i miss the filipino delicacies like bibingka and puto bungbong. i invite you to try them manila hotel hospitality dating back since 1912. sorry no pics available since i forgot to bring my camera.. next time for sure i will post some pics.

Room Tip: get the 1325 or 1425 rooms, these are facing the manila bay, the wharf actually where you can see th...

We enjoyed our stay in the Manila Hotel. The classic elegance of the rooms with no smell of cigarettes with the shutters over the windows in the bedroom with aircon, decent shower and a fridge for water or soft drinks. You can't hear your neighbors or those in the hall, sweet! Everything makes this a very nice vacation spot. I highly recommend this hotel!

We chose this hotel for our last night in Manila prior to flying back to Seattle. This hotel was beautiful but honestly lacked basic amenities.
Our timing was bad, they were having a conference at the hotel and it was very crowded. The room was okay, but it did not have a mini bar, hairdryer or iron/ironing board. When we tried to buy a Coke they told us we had to order at the bar only.
So nothing too serious but small things that added to just an okay experience.
Wish I had more time to explore the Intramurros around there, next time!

Lovely entertainment in lobby, reminiscent of Manila in the 30's but slightly tired.

Breakfast was OK, but suited Filipinos more than Westerners.
