“I love this neighborhood”
Reviewed 7 January 2014

I didn't know if it was safe to go here but we went anyway. On calesa (horse drawn carriage), it was fun to see. Also stopped by a famous bakery Eng BeeTin and bought some hopia (mooncake). THere is nothing to be scared of! We had fun.

“Dirty and Poor - but enjoy the walks”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

The entire area is really really dirty and poor but, as with all Chinatowns, the walks through Binondo are really nice. There are a few arches and mini bridges which are nice photo ops. And if the place gets to you, theres an SM mall in the middle of Binondo for some AC and fast food.

Tip - Get a cab and drive through in the night for views with the lanterns on

Reviewed 15 December 2013

if there were no traffic ........

but traffic we have every day in manila and binondo. otherwise the place is worth a visit for cheap shopping etc. but if you get stuck in heavy traffic for hours and hours the fun turns into horror.

“They keep changing street names”
Reviewed 26 November 2013

This is the Chinatown of Binondo Manila. If one grew up in Manila with the old street names, then , a few years ago they changed the old street for the new ones. The former Nueva is now Yuchengco. Gandara is now Sabino Padilla. Reina Regente is now Quintin Paredes. Confusing , though as it is . binondo boasts of very affordable goods from school supplies found along Yuchengo to hardware goods , ball bearings , lighting fixtures, housing and building materials in Soler and T Pinpin. Mini groceries and restaurants abound !! The President Chinese Restaurant along ngpin Street is very good !! Parking spaces are very expensive and very few. Many public transportation are available like pedicabs, taxis, kalesas ( horse drawn carriage - but be careful as some kochero's , kalesa drivers are not so honest )
