it is a place of worship where devotees flocks daily even at night.. a visit to the church makes all prayers answered, thats how powerful the Black nazarene is. the church itself has now modern interior and less of the antique walls and decors. however, in order for one to feel praying, i myself, just close my eyes, and look upward in order to not be disrupted.there are however precautions when one go to quiapo church. there are plenty of beggars and pretending beggars who are actually snatchers. the vendors outside are eyesores, many are so eager to make a sale which made me nervous. the street vendors are back n they occupy d street. i was also saddened by the sight of the squatters when we pass by the narrow streets, the creek was full of garbage .. oh ! thats quiapo anyway.. whats important is the faith .. sorry for writing some , but its around the church, and this needs full attention.

The Quiapo Basilca is the center of the Filipino devotion to the Black Nazarene, a wooden image that has set off a culture of devotion unlike any other in the country. And don't forget Quiapo Fortune Telling Corner and also Quiapo Candle Lighting Ritual

Every January 9, its the feast of Black Nazarene in Quiapo Church, Manila, Millions of devotee will troop to the place to pray and/or try his luck to climb over and touch the idol or wipe it with handkerchief, believing that by doing so, it would cure his/her ailment and prayers be answered. The miraculous saint is being paraded over the place usually taking about 18 hours. Classes were suspended in the area while traffic have to be rerouted. Medics and security were on red alert, so its a phenomenon activity every year.

The neighbourhood surrounding this church is a little edgy, but quite safe. There are a lot of beggars and your heart will be broken seeing some of the squalor. The market is interesting and to the left of the church, you find stalls selling ating-ating (magical totems and amulets). The church itself is bright and airy. It is quite new and seems to have almost constant services going on. Photos inside are not allowed, but you can see the famous Black Nazareno and replicas of the statue.

Everytime I travel to Manila, I always find time not to just visit but to hear mass in the Basilica Nazareno to thank the Poong Nazareno for my numerous wishes granted.

On that that, I was able to share a little to the "Yolanda survivors" for the 2nd collection made by the church.

Going to the church requires a little patience as one has to find his tough way through the crowded street from Carriedo LRT to the church. But you know what? I felt relaxed & happy mood after the mass. Salamat Poong Nazareno.
