Very good hotel. Ideally situated for my business meetings but this area of town can be a bit daunting so probably not best if holiday travelling with children or the infirm. 25m pool is excellent and has a roped off section for serious swimmers (not me I hasten to add). Only used the buffet in the Market cafe but this is very good. Staff are super. Welcoming, accommodating and helpful.
The one major gripe is that the hotel (as do all the others I've seen here) allow smoking in designated areas and some of the bedrooms. This actually worked in my favour since the only non-smoking room they could offer was an upgrade! But even so of course it doesn't really excuse the policy. People are actually invited to sample the cigars in the 'Lounge' which is one of the only places to have a beer, relax and meet guests. I left a comment and the manager wrote back sympathetically saying they have to please everyone, particularly those from Northern Asia. I'd rather not second guess who he's referring to - but it really is time that the Hyatt brings all its hotels into the 21st Century with a comprehensive smoking ban in public spaces. By all means give the smokers somwhere to indulge - but if the airports can segregate why can't the hotels?More
