As a Kare-Kare lover, I really like the twist they put into it. I've been to the two branches (Malingap St., QC and Jupiter St., Makati) both have the homey feeling.. And a great place to eat, chat, and have a good time dining :) a reviewer has said that their menus are somewhat worn-out -- that doesn't look bad at all, actually I see it as a classic approach to present a menu (since on some menus the pictures differ from what they will put on your table). The serving was just right and even a single serve can serve two just buy an extra rice.

Try it yourself guys, I hope you'll like it as enthusiastically as I do ;) if my boyfriend just eats Kare-Kare, I'll date him in one of the branches :(

They also have the Pipino vegetarian food just beside their restos.. For those who wants to balance their meals :)

Thank you Pino! Til I taste your KK Bagnet again ♥

Bon Appetit readers!

went here awhile ago along with some of my friends for lunch. (10-4-12)

at around 1230pm we arrived.
parking was a hustle.
there were a couple of tables free
once seated , we were given worn out menus.... old...

i believe lunch service was finishing at the time.
...
we ordered 3 dishes
platter 2 for appetizer,
kare kare bagnet
and crunchy hito
plus ice tea pitcher and some rice
.....

after around 20 mins, we got our platter 2
it mainly consisted of onion rings, calamares, potato wedge, nachos, some croquetes, and some beef stuff ( forgot the name but i believe it had lemongrass/ pandan stuck in the middle) ....

for the price of around 500, i believe this platter is not worth it. sad to say some part of the dish was cold to touch, plus one of the sauces that accompanied the platter had an insect in it...

it would have been better to have ordered individual appetizers

our pitcher of iced tea was also served. interestingly enough, you guess it right there was another insect found in one of the glasses they gave us.

after a around 15 minutes, we were served the rest of our food.

the bagnet that was part of the deconstructed kare kare wasn't that great.
it was somewhat cold, and no longer crunchy. re-heat maybe? or thet just left it atbthe counter waiting for the other orders to be cooked? not worth the price

our last order arrived, it was the crunchy ( no longer) hito with ensaladang talong...
it was basically 2 pieces of hito sliced innthe middle and deep fried, something like this shouldmhave been served instantely once it got out of the fryer tO keep it crisp and warm..
awkwardly enough .. it wasn't ....it wasn't crunchy also .. sad

after having read blog posts about this restaurant i had high expectaions, well they werent met,

for the three of us that ate , our bill was around 1600 pesos..
i guess we should have went to a buffet...
would have been cheaper .. and would have had a lot more choices,,,

the waitstaff was knowlegeable and kind...
but tey are a bit understaff, as i believe some of the other patrons had to call them over and over again... i guess they were just too busy...

i ordered the bagnet and it didn't disappoint. the place is friendly and suitable for catching up with friends or informal meetings.

notes on the dessert selection:
recommended - mango sansrival (so crispy and not overwhelming if not for your already-full belly) and coconut ice cream (refreshing and cleanses the palate)
rain check: cupcakes (a bit dry and the frosting doesn't complement)

If you go here, please try their Kare-Kareng Bagnet. It's their specialty and it will never disappoint.

The whole cuisine's a great fusion of different tastes so I'm sure most, if not all items there (except for desserts, don't even bother) are good.

I tried this restaurant with a friend based on word of mouth. As such, I kinda expected much from it though. We tried the kare kare bagnet & sinigang na salmon sa miso. The kare kare was okay although I still preferred the traditional way of cooking it. For the sinigang na salmon, it was salty and not sour at all. The cook told us that it was because of the miso that made it salty, however, I told them that I have tasted versions of sinigang wherein it was very sour despite the miso. As such, my first experience with this restaurant was not very pleasant at all. Maybe I ought to try again maybe after a couple of months to see if things have improved. Otherwise for me, it was just an average experience.
