“The dancing distracts you from the awful food”
Reviewed 18 January 2012

I have eaten at Johnny Rockets in other countries and (foolishly) assumed it would be the same here. The burger bun tasted weird and the patty itself was an "interesting" taste. OK the fries were passable but the annoying help were more interested in dancing and talking among themselves than serving myself or the 3 other tables here.

if you want a half decent burger try WHAM! burger close by.

“Costly burgers”
Reviewed 12 March 2011

Ate here with my wife. The burgers and two soft drinks came to just over USD 30
and my wife's burger looked nothing like the one in the menu. Plus the annoying waiters dancing al of the time makes it difficult to eat as they are jumping about all of the time. I actually wrote to Johnny Rockets and complained and was told that the local manager would contact me but never did. There are much better burgers in Manila and even the likes of Burger King and MacDonald's are better value that the expensive stuff that we paid for.

“All the cheerful greetings and dance numbers can't make up for expensive and bland food.”
Reviewed 1 February 2011

Johnny Rockets is in the newly-opened Veranda section of Robinsons Galleria Mall. As you enter the place, you are loudly welcomed by the staff yelling 'hi guys!' - the experience can be unnerving for some. Asians are generally more quiet and introverted than Americans you know. The American Diner experience is punctuated by dance numbers done every half hour by the waiters and waitresses to loud retro music like YMCA or Buttercup, arms waving in close proximity to diners who may be waving their own arms trying to ask for a menu or the bill. Okay, so this isn't a place for anyone just looking for a nice quiet place to eat and who doesn't want to call attention to himself, but maybe for others the party atmosphere would be an attraction.

Maybe I could overlook all that so long as the food was good, but sad to say, it isn't. The burgers are bland - there are much much better burgers to be found. They try to compensate by overloading you with fries - well, at least you get the American carbohydrate overload right. My friend tried the shakes, which I hoped would be a reason to come back, only to suffer a really bad stomach shortly after. After everything is done (though maybe not eaten, there are really just so much fries one can eat), one is faced with quite an expensive bill, and the staff cheerfully yelling 'bye guys' as you leave just doesn't make up for it.

I'll give the staff A for effort with their dance numbers and friendly greetings and goodbyes, but from my experience, I want my American Diner to be warm, welcoming but quiet, and with good, filling, and affordable food.
