At the frond gate of the old city citadel there was a surprise waiting for us in Ankara
A beautiful renovated traditional Chan that it takes you back in time, with luxury and comfort
This hotel should be a place to visit even if you are not plan to stay
in a very quite and peaceful atmosphere, you are in the middle of the old city, walking distance to the small antique shops all around you(steep downhill) and small local cafes BUT after 8 it looks empty, everything is closed and no more people around, so take a taxi to come back at night
The rooms were spacious enough but the Bathroom was even bigger having even a view from my Jacuzzi
Another surprise NO refrigerator in the room, and not enough bottles of drinking water
you should ask for ice or cold drinks But the staff is very pleased to help you anytime and the service in all grounds is exelent
The breakfast was a great surprise also, since it was served for each guest(not a Buffet)
in fantastic old Turkish trays, with a choice of a main course, starting rather late at 7 for business travelers ,and having no tourkish simit bread !!!
The hole atmosphere it is extremely romantic
A little too much for an evening dinner at the restaurant ,the light is too low you cannot even see your food ,it is like a dark castle and you are sitting in the middle
Funny abut the light ~I can go every morning for breakfast but i would never have dinner in the same restaurant
fortunately there is a very nice restaurant just across the street with an Ankara view from the castle I think it is call Washington!!!!
I would strongly suggest this Hotel for a weekend, without moving more than 500 meters around
I think the renovation of such a site was due to a Rich Turkish named Cotc (I dont Know if it is correct ) but next door is also a museum for a private collection like cars, type writers, baby prams Old computers !!! and those small thinks that also take us back to our young age
I would go back even if it just to stay in this One Of a Kind Hotel

You feel passion and authenticity as you walk in the entire place. The interior accompanying its environment makes you so relax that you don't want to get out. The more you stay, the more you feel like home. Rooms are so comfortable that you like to spend time there rather than going out.

The place has been located far from the city. Don't expect lots of activities and shopping. But it is located in the heart of the oldest markets in Ankara; nice handmade art works. Make sure you try a local breakfast in a local cafe.

The hotel staff are as well so passionately providing service for the guests. I had a great experience from the Front Desk Supervisor Emir who was such a helpful and friendly person.

I was on a business trip, but I have planned to take my family there again.

We just came back from a long weekend in Ankara. We were there for a wedding and booked the hotel based on the excellent reviews it got on tripadvisor. I am happy to say that the reviews were spot on. The hotel is beautiful! Its is located right in front of the historic Ankara castle, with small antique stores and bazar streets just around the corner. The area around the hotel is obviously going through gentrification right now and one can still find run down houses and bumpy roads. More importantly though, they people are helpful, friendly and nice. We did not have a single negative experience during our 4 day stay and always felt welcomed and safe. A normal taxi drive downtown (e.g. Maltepe, Kicilay, Bahcelevieler) will cost you about 8-12 TL. As we were busy with the wedding during the day/evening we decided to only eat breakfast at the hotel. The food was excellent and it was more than enough. As other reviewers have pointed out the rooms are charming and are equipped with luxurious material. Overall we were nearly a little sad that we did not have more time to spend in the hotel. The most positive experience for me though was the service. People went out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. For example when we left our phone in the cab that drove us to the airport, one call to the hotel was enough to make sure the driver is coming back to the airport with our phone. Again as Dean-Traveller said it is almost worth a flight to Ankara just to stay there.

The renovation of the caravanaserie in the old town of Ankara has been exemplary. Modern amenities blend into the old building in a seamless way. The building is very special and the high service levels contribute to this feeling. Service and attention to detail started at the complimentary airport pick up and continued throughout our stay.
The caravanaserie is next to the citadel in the old part of Ankera with the old shopping streets next to it and the Museum of Anatolian Life nearby. There are views across the city from this high point.
Breakfast is served in the central atrium under a modern roof which protects the ancient structure. It is cool and airy. Food was good and service attentive. Dinner in the brasserie in the adjoining building was of the same high standard. This is within the museum, so you are surrounded by artefacts.
Rooms are individually decorated and each has a different theme. There are antiques throughout the hotel including in the rooms. The air on is high tech and excellent. The bathrooms are huge with bath and shower. Linen is luxurious as are the Molten Brown toiletries.
It felt a privilege to stay here. We could not believe the value for money. It is almost worth a flight to Ankara just to stay here!

Room Tip: All rooms are of a high quality but you are guaranteed a good view and more space with a grand room.

This hotel took my breath away. It was beautifully appointed, with a wonderful reconstruction and rebuilding of a historical travellers han. The hotel rooms are lovely with all modern conveniences and antique furnishings. All aspects of comfort have been considered with in room nespresso and tea, Molton Brown toiletries, both a shower and a bathtub, pillows of differing firmness and luxurious bathrobes. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive and breakfast was lovely. The hotel is very conveniently located next to the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations and Ankara Castle and perfect for exploring the sites of Ankara.

Room Tip: I think that all rooms here are likely of good value and good views. I didn't stay on the main f...

I stayed in 3 hotels in my trip to Turkey and the Divan Cukurhan in Ankara was easily the best. A large room, with complimentary water, nespresso machine and satellite TV, a very large bathroom with separate shower and bath, and Molton Brown shower/bath gels and lotions. All fixtures and fittings were new and to a very high standard. Service from all the staff was excellent, all spoke English which was very helpful, and were very friendly. The location is also great for the Citadel and Museum of Anatolian Civilisations.

The charm of the hotel is that it has character - and that character comes through even with the modern conversion, so you get the best of a modern hotel with the charm of an older building with years of history.

I would recommend to anyone staying in Ankara.
